It was midnight, my knees hurt and I couldn't sleep. What do I do? Grab a camera and shoot around my bedroom.

Actually, I took a bunch of pics of my bedroom, but this was the only one I liked.

It's midnight, my knees hurt like hell and I can't sleep. What do I do? Grab a camera and start taking B&W shots of my bedroom.

Day 222 Year 2 I've had a very odd few days and I'm starting to feel really run down.

Sleep though, is something hard to come by for me.

As for the photo, trying more available light pics again.

SOOC for these.

What can I say? I love being a dad! And I'm not just a dad…

I'm Max's dad! :-)

I'm not sure what the best part is but I do believe that passing on a few of my values will be a great experience - for both of us. Captured at Fisher Towers, Utah.

This was me standing in my driveway at 2am.

I had to go out and find awesomeness and peace in the universe after reading the news.

The Milky Way never fails to make me feel at peace and full of hope and wonder.

Sometimes insomnia can be useful.

This photo is a prayer... In this critical and dangerous time for Israel and its people, I am praying for their safety every moment I take photos...

I imagine what it would be like to have 30 seconds to dash for my shelter, and I don't even have a shelter to which to dash.

If explosive rockets loaded with nuts and bolts, ball bearings, and toxic chemicals to induce internal bleeding were fired at Tucson from Phoenix or Nogales, what would we do?

What would the US President do if explosive rockets with shrapnel were launched by a terrorist group, and the missiles fell on Annapolis, Baltimore or the Capitol Beltway?

Happy Caturday! 🐱🐱🐱💗

For today's Happy Caturday's Theme

Where do you find your cat when you wake up in the morning?

This morning, I walked into the living room to find this.

"When you are old and grey and full of sleep," but sleep slips away, and the little ones sleep without a care, all comfy and cozy, in your favorite spot.

Early morning and rain, what to do, sleep, well, at least for two: isn't time for breakfast yet.

And our old boy, Karson, well, he gets to snoop.

Hi everyone,

again a light painting/long exposure shot, this time the classic "I can't sleep" moment when we go to bed and then we really want to sleep but then suddenly we can't, we just can't and we stay in bed, eyes wide open and our minds just in another place...

Well, this is my today's photo, this cost me a lot of tries, really and this one was the "best" from them all, yes drawing skeletons is not like something easy for me, I need to practice more...

Well, now, time to go to bed, I really need to sleep and rest, tomorrow, well you know, training at 7 in the morning.

Good night you all and sweet dreams!

A Bremen house with a history and a piece of street art

An amazing dawn captured in Khao Kho in the Thai province of Phetchabun last year which never saw the light of day at the time.. terrible pun!

This is a single vertical shot taken as part of a very wide pano and whilst putting it together on Photoshop at the time I felt as if I had just eaten 10 packs of smarties and gave up due to the intense red colour. I love fiery sunrises as much as anyone else but for some odd reason I can't deal with intense reds on my own images.

But then it only occurred to me just now whilst thumbing through my archive that maybe the corner piece might be acceptable with it being slightly less over powering. Note that this final rendition is still one smartie pack less than the original raw file!

I said that I was going to portray my dreams a bit closer to how I saw them. A few nights ago my mind was racing. I couldn't stop thinking and all I was doing was laying down trying to go to sleep. I had really bad anxiety and felt like my blood pressure dropped. I felt sick and confused. For a slip of a second this brief image flashed before my eyes. I saw myself tearing myself from myself like I was trying to go to sleep but my mind was keeping me awake. My skin was cracking and I remember hearing a crackling pop and fleshy noise that sounding like ripping. My anxiety got pretty high to the point I couldn't go to sleep, which isn't unusual, but it can be overly aggravating at times. Needless to say, I haven't slept well in the last few weeks.

Keep Updated!!! :D

I went back and forth on whether or not I was going to go out and shoot the super moon on Saturday night. I ended up not going out on Saturday night as I always seem to have terrible luck capturing the moon.

Fast forward a few hours later and my insomnia made the decision for me and I headed out to Tempe Town Lake at about 3:30 am and came away with a couple of photos I'm pleased with.

This one is of the moon setting over the pedestrian bridge in Tempe, next to the Tempe Center for the Arts.

Edit: Looks like the above photo was on Explore and in Flickr's "Super Moon 2013" gallery found here: www.flickr.com/photos/yahooeditorspicks/galleries/7215763...

I didn't really plan on shooting out in the Gorge again this summer. Don't get me wrong, the place is AMAZING in the spring and fall, but I'd rather be in the mountains during summertime. But the other morning I woke up at 5:30 and couldn't fall back to sleep. Nothing else to do but grab the gear and head out for a hike. The Wahkeena area is my favorite place to go in the Gorge so I had to stop for awhile and shoot Fairy Falls. The whole goal was to come away with an image of the falls that I hadn't captured before. In the end this one required a lot of patience and very minute tripod adjustments. Hand blend of three images: 2 to freeze (almost) the foregound foliage and one for the rest of the image. It's not technically perfect, but works for web presentation.

I couldn't sleep but I remembered my dream...Salem returned

‘The Visitor’, by Ian Serraillier

A crumbling churchyard, the sea, and the moon; The waves had gouged out grave and bone;

A man was walking, late and alone...

He saw a skeleton on the ground; A ring on a bony finger he found.

He ran home to his wife and gave her the ring. “Oh, where did you get it?” He said not a thing.

“It’s the loveliest ring in the world,” she said,

As it glowed on her finger. They slipped off to bed.

At midnight they woke. In the dark outside, “Give me my ring!” a chill voice cried.

“What was that, William? What did it say?” “Don’t’ worry, my dear. It’ll soon go away.”

“I’m coming!” A skeleton opened the door. “Give me my ring!” It was crossing the floor.

“What was that, William? What did it say?” “Don’t’ worry, my dear. It’ll soon go away.”

“I’m reaching you now! I’m climbing the bed.” The wife pulled the sheet right over her head.

It was torn from her grasp and tossed in the air: “I’ll drag you out of bed by the hair!”

“What was that, William? What did it say?”

“Throw the ring through the window! THROW IT AWAY!”

She threw it. The skeleton leapt from the sill, Scooped up the ring and clattered downhill, Fainter... and fainter... Then all was still.

Salem was one of our rescues, a very special cat who had a sixth sense I'm sure.
