Another older image from files that I had edited but never had time to organize into species. It is getting me back in touch with the birds in time for migration.

"The first man who, having fenced in a piece of land, said "This is mine," and found people naïve enough to believe him, that man was the true founder of civil society. From how many crimes, wars, and murders, from how many horrors and misfortunes might not any one have saved mankind, by pulling up the stakes, or filling up the ditch, and crying to his fellows: Beware of listening to this impostor; you are undone if you once forget that the fruits of the earth belong to us all, and the earth itself to nobody."
― Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Discourse on the Origin of Inequality

I usually keep a bowl of water for my little friends to get a drink when the weather is nicer but, with these cold temperatures the water freezes solid. At least this fella is figuring out what he has to in order to make sure he stays hydrated even in the winter. Grab a piece of ice from the crook in the tree and start munching down.
I appreciate each and every visit, comment and fave here on my little corner of Flickr. Have a super day!

A picture from 10 years ago - delighted to find this really well resolved photo in my archives - just goes to show you don't need the latest gear to get good shots. The yellow square on the port wing changed colour in the presence of poison gas. Early in WW2, there was a fear that airfields would be bombed with gas which would injure or kill returning pilots, so if it changed colour as the plane came in to land, the pilot knew he had to go and land elsewhere. I don't think this indicator paper was used for long as it is rarely seen in pictures of the time.
Similar to N3200, this Spitfire also crashed on a beach in France in 1940 and lay buried in sand and sea for decades until being recovered in 1980. After storage and a long rebuild/restoration, P9374 took to the air again in 2011.
The aircraft was sold by auction for a then record price of more than £3 million in 2015. I believe it is now in the USA, but whether it flies or is on display or not I can't find out.

"Wait, don't walk away from me! You are always walking so fast! You just think I am getting the last word in!"
The one on the left likely is probably thinking "Lord give me strength" while the one on the right of your screen is no doubt nagging the other one likely getting the last word in. LOL
Almost a year later from the image in my comment below and I am sure that this is perhaps the same couple. LOL
I appreciate each and every visit, comment and fave here on my little corner of the world as seen through my lens

"Be thou the rainbow in the storms of life. The evening beam that smiles the clouds away, and tints tomorrow with prophetic ray."
~Lord Byron~
.....We believed we'd catch the rainbow
Ride the wind to the sun
Sail away on ships of wonder
But life's not a wheel
With chains made of steel
So bless me
Come the dawn....
