Green and lush looks good on this snowy day in southern Ontario. We are on a ferry across the Volta River below the famous dam. The bridge is closed for long-term construction. Notice the colour of the water: no sediment like my last canoe photo.

Canoe, MacRitchie Reservoir, Singapore

Decided to have a go at making a paddle using wood I had lying around the shed - macrocarpa and wester red cedar. It's about 1450mm overall in length, the blade is about 550mm long and 160mm at the widest (bottom) with a slight taper towards the handle. 3 coats of Danish oil. Having never made one before or come to think of it never actually using one I don't know how it will go in the water, if it's rubbish I could use it as a cricket bat or one of those pizza slice things!
