Candlestick Tower vista, Canyonlands National Park. HDR processed with Aurora, Lightroom, Photoshop and Topaz Studio.

Canyonlands National Park is truly a photographers paradise.

As you drive into or out of Canyonlands National Park there is a viewpoint that is a bit hard to notice if you are not looking for it called Candlestick Tower Overlook. It is situated in a curve, and if you don't pay attention, you will miss it.

I parked and walked out to the edge of the cliff just as the sun was setting. To the right is the Green River Overlook and the Willow Flat Campground.

Thanks for stopping by

I found this miniature chandelier, about 5 cm for sale right after Christmas. I had watched it before but thought it was way too expensive.

Happy New Year 2024!

For 120 pictures in 2020 #19 "Candlesticks", this is a trio of candles attached to crystal candlesticks.

This is the view facing west, along the road which runs through the Island in the Sky District of the Canyonlands National Park, in South East Utah. There are numerous turnouts, so you can stop, get out, and take pictures. This was my first trip to the park, but it won't be my last.

Interior detail from St Andrews church at Collyweston. This small village was once the site of a very large palace (Collyweston Palace) from which much of the country was run. It was home to Margaret Beaufort (Henry VII's mother) who was an unusually powerful woman, and could even conduct legal business in her own right, most unusual for those times.

I figured the flares might be an issue with my lens, but the shots with the sun concealed were too flat (in comparison) on the rocks in the foreground and the cliff edges nearby. So I'll take these imperfections along with the better light, which captures more of the feeling of watching this day's end in Canyonlands NP.

This pothole filled up with recent rains from Storm Rosa as it tore through the SW. Nice added element along with the Green River Rim and Candlestick Formation either side of the sunset.

(Caesalpinioideae/ Fabaceae)

Pretty yellow flower shrub

Senna alata is an important medicinal tree, as well as an ornamental flowering plant in the subfamily Caesalpinioideae. It also known as emperor's candlesticks, candle bush, candelabra bush, Christmas candles, empress candle plant, ringworm shrub, or candletree. A remarkable species of Senna, it was sometimes separated in its own genus, Herpetica.

Sometimes photo's taken in our surroundings turn out to be as good as those captured after hours in search of a great shot, miles away from home. This shot caught my eye, with the colours and light of a bookcase through the distorted view of a glass candlestick holder.
