Relay For Life of Second Life Attention Magazine's June 22 Issue

Taken @ Tranquility Dreams

I know may of you have in some way or the other felt Cancer close up, either had Cancer your self or know of somebody who is or has been fighting the battle of cancer. Even though some dont make it trough the battle, we must always remain hopeful that there is hope. That is why we have to keep up the work in finding ways to fight this disease, by awareness and research that can help fight the disease.

I am crying as I write this, because I am thinking of those I have lost in my RL as well as in SL. But I know that those I have lost would want me to stay positive and hopeful, and to love and live my life to the fullest each day, because we never know what tomorrow brings. I also want to dedicate this picture in memory of our dearest Beautiful Angel Amber who lost the fight against Cancer, she was the most positive, loving, caring and most uplifting person I have ever met in the virtual world of Second life, She will always be missed and never be forgotten, she will always be in our hearts, as well as to my dear Uncle who also passed away too soon, due to Cancer.

"Better Days"

There's a light at the end of the tunnel

Keep your eyes on the road ahead

But if you're feeling lost in the night

It's okay to cry

Just as long as you hold your head

'Cause we're on our way to better

Better's ahead, better's ahead

It get's worse 'fore it gets better

But better's ahead, better's ahead

Better days are comin' (Better and better and better, ooh-ooh)

Better days are comin' (Ooh-ooh, better days)

Better days, better days (Better and better and better, oh-ooh)

Better days are comin' (Better days, better days)

I know you've been kicked down

Slept on, let down, faith gone

Waited for too long for something to lean on (Lean on)

You feel weak, just be strong (Ooh)

Deep breath, stay calm

If you just press on, press on, press on

You gon' see there's a light at the end of the tunnel (At the end of the tunnel)

Keep your eyes on the road ahead (On the road ahead)

And if you're feelin' lost in the night (Lost in the night)

It's okay to cry (It's okay to cry)

Just as long as you hold your head

'Cause we're on our way to better (Aah)

Better's ahead, (Better) better's ahead (Aah)

It get's worse 'fore it gets better (Ah-ah-ah)

But better's ahead, better's ahead

Better days are comin' (Better and better and better, ooh-ooh, I know, I know)

Better days are comin' (Ooh-ooh)

(Better days, better days) (Better and better and better, ooh-ooh)

Better days are comin' (Ooh-ooh)

(Better days, better days)

I know you feel left out and stepped on

Keep goin', keep goin'

Shine bright, don't dim yours for no one

Keep goin' higher, and higher and higher and higher

(Because there's better)

Better days, better days are comin' (Better days)

Better days, better days (On their way) are comin' ('Cause I know)

Better days, better days (Better days) are comin' (Yeah)

Better days, (Oh) better days are comin' (I know)

Better days are comin'

I have updated you a little on why we are both a little absent here on Flickr! But for those that don't know i will put a link in the comment section below.

This photo was taken on Saturday 18th January 2020 during Trev's "third" chemotherapy session at Christie's Manchester, for treatment of inoperable Pancreatic Cancer.

Trev has had some unusual side effects on this session ( severe arm and hand cramps and slurred speech) so a change to his drug infusion is under review! On his second session he had again the slurred speech but he struggled to get his breath.

Even though the brilliance of chemotherapy can give you more time or even rid cancer in some cases, it also comes with its own risks.

Fingers crossed for his next session xxx

Trev is in a much better place than some cancer sufferers and for that we thank our lucky stars everyday xxx

"We share because we care"

Two years ago, I had my annual mammogram. No big deal right. Never thought anything else about it.

Then a letter came addressed to me, I can still remember the feeling. The letter stated I needed to return for a second test because something abnormal was on my right breast. My husband and I did not tell the kids. No need to worry them.

I scheduled the appointment for the second mammogram. So when they called my name, I thought "no one" in my family has ever had breast cancer. (talking to myself) So I asked the technican what was going to happen today -- she said they would perform a more indepth mammogram and have the specialist review. If at that time there was still something they would perform a sonogram.

So they performed the mammogram, then left me in the room to wait. I looked at the images from the first sonogram and saw the large mass on the right breast. My stomach felt sick. I thought to myself would my family be okay, would they be taken care of. (just typing this still makes my stomach hurt).

The technican returned and said I would need to have the sonogram. I am fighting to keep the tears at that moment from flowing (because I had requested my hubby to go on to work because I felt for sure everything would be okay).

So I went for the sonogram -- after it was completed, the technican said wait here and let the specialist review. Wait, wait!

I felt like that 15 minutes was hours -- the thoughts that ran through my mind. I was at that moment more worried about what if and how my family would be taken care of.

The technican returned and stated it was just a large mass (more of a discoloration in the top portion of my right breast). She stated all was okay. Let me say that again "all was okay". Wonderful words.

I left the hospital and returned to my car. I cried from relief.

Meanwhile, my poor husband had not heard from me (panic). He had left work and was almost to the hospital when I called him with the good news.

My first flower to bloom this spring. I rescued it from the wind & rain that we received today.

April is Daffodil Month

Cancer organizations around the world use the daffodil as a symbol of hope for all people affected by cancer. Daffodils mark the return of spring and new life.

It was first used in Toronto, Canada in the 1950's during volunteer organized coffee mornings to raise money for cancer awareness and research.

Here is the little fella amongst the berries.

Once you chose Hope anything is possible ♥

Coming soon to the Mississauga Promenade Center ther I 15th Annual Cruisin' for A Cure Canada;

Something I have been a huge supporter of in the past. The Car Show That Saves Men's Lives, which is held annually at the Powerade center in Brampton.

that was the first one in three years as Coiid shut it down and this is the first one since 2019. the turn out was amazing with over 400 cars participating and a smaller than typical crowd of only 3000. hopefully this year will be better.

Please tell your husbands, fathers, uncles, grandfather brothers and any man you care about to get a PSA test it changes the odds from 5 % survivability to 93%.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind lung cancer. About 1 man in 41 will die of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer can be a fatal disease, but due to early detection most men diagnosed with prostate cancer will not die from it.

74% of prostate cancers are diagnosed early at Stage I and II. The probability of surviving prostate cancer at least five years after diagnosis is about 93% in Canada.

For more information check out the website for the car show.

Challengers...

This past summer Karen and I went to the car show with my friend in his 1971 Dodge Challenger Convertible, the car is all original with no modifications. As we rolled down the street we attracted a lot of attention. not just because it is a very loud and gutsy car but also because it is so rare...

When finally we pulled into the car show a guy in a 1970 Convertible Challenger pulled up behind us and then proceeded to follow us through the car lot, parking right beside us. Pretty soon there was an entire row of Challengers; most of them the 2013-2017 model, but its was very impressive to see the row of cars..

This is a shot of them side just by side before the show ended.

March 22 is Daffodil Day. Since the 1950s, the daffodil has served as a symbol of hope and resilience in the face of cancer. The bright flower represents the hard work done by researchers and doctors working to find a cure and improve treatment for cancer of all types. Beginning with the Canadian Cancer Society, cancer research organizations around the world have used the daffodil as an emblem of hope and resilience in the face of disease.

Please view large,

This is for all the great people that do care and spend their life researching

so we can live ours pain free, Thanks!!!

Now I can finally say it: I'm CANCER FREE!!

Maybe I´ll never be cancer free, but right now I am completely recovered.

Last December I got proven colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver. The treatment began in January, first chemotherapy, then radiation, and finally two operations. After an operation in May and one in August, both tumors were removed. At the beginning of November, I had the final surgery that was also successful...

Maybe I don´t look so happy, but I really am... I´m back :)

60 minute story

textures are my own and the lovely and talented lenabem-anna

Results are in! NOT the miracle we wanted to hear but the news was the next best thing!

So after Trev's bile duct stent procedure in November 2019 followed by 12 sessions of intense chemotherapy that finished end of May 2020, the tumour in the head of his pancreas is the same size as his last scan result and still non operable, .... but the cancer isn't anywhere else, which is brilliant news!

The reason they cannot remove the tumor is that the cancer is attached to an artery that supplies the bowel. The branched artery is too short to detach the tumour with surgery and could result in killing the blood supply to the bowel .. too risky!

He now has a three month break from all treatment to allow his body to recover, he then starts with radiotherapy (everyday for upto a month) alongside a tablet form of chemotherapy.

So far the treatment has given Trev another 6 months or maybe more of life than was first predicted which is incredible ..... we are now planning to go to Cornwall for a break away with Rupert and Razz before treatment comences again!

It feels amazing just to even think that we can plan a little ahead! Life feels good today x

We both want to thank you all for your continued support, thoughts and prayers at what has been a pretty tough time.

THANK YOU xxx
