The 12th of December morning started with delays and cancellations in many regions of the Hungarian rail and bus network, thanks to the first somewhat serious snowfall of 2022/2023 winter.
While some vehicles would get stuck or even refuse to start, the old reliable yellow Ikaruses kept going like it was just any ordinary day, providing public service in these much-needed times around Encs.
Here the last short-bodied 256 of the country is climbing the hills towards Krasznokvajda, running slightly ahead of schedule even in these conditions, without any ABS or voodoo magic, on the unplowed(!) roads.
G-BGCE (T.3-2) : Douglas C-47A : ex-Spanish Air Force
Another of the C-47s which arrived in British after disposal by the Spanish AF in 1978/79.
This one was registered to Fairoaks Aviation Services from November 1978 until cancellation on sale to the USA in January 1980.

This MOC has been a long time in the making! The cancellation of Brickfair set this back by a few months, but its finally done! This is my primary model for the 2021 Brickfair Virginia eXpermental military collaboration. The XB-35 first flew in June of 1946 shortly after the end of WWII. The XB-35 was built around the concept of a flying wing where the empennage and fuselage were completely eliminated. This produced significantly less drag compared to its contemporaries which made it much more efficient and enabled it to carry out long range operations.
My XB-35 is depicted with contra- rotating props. The very first variant of the XB-35 used contra rotating propellers mounted in a pusher configuration. The Contra- rotating propeller was eventually removed and a single prop replaced them due to excessive vibration caused by the dual contra- rotating propellers.
The XB-35 was designed during WWII at about the same time as the B-36. As the jet age came into full swing, the XB-35 was redesigned yet again and the Wasp R-4360 radial engines were replaced with 8 turbojet engines and was re-designated the YB-49. This made the flying wing faster, however the thick wing of the XB-35 was still significantly slower than thin and fleaxable winged aircraft like the B-47.
My model is built using a combination of plates along with SNOT techniques for the upper surface. One of the most challenging parts was fitting all of the power functions motors and battery packs into the wing while keeping the wing relatively thin and at the same time keeping it from drooping. my model also features a full interior along with bomb bays and retractable undercarriage.
This will most likely not be my last model for the collab since I am eyeballing an XB-70 too ;)
After the cancellation of the 05.46 Barrow - Carlisle, there was uncertainty surrounding at least one the Cumbrian coast loco hauled diagrams on 28th December.
Good news therefore when 37403 'Isle of Mull' appeared on the 11.40 Barrow-in-Furness - Carlisle service, seen here rolling into Kirkby-in-Furness to collect its solitary passenger heading north.

The cancellation of a fundraising walk across Morecambe Bay in late June due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic left Halton Haven Hospice facing a shortfall in vital funds that allow it to provide valuable support to the local community.
These guys cycled 75 miles in horrendous weather from Morecambe to Halton Haven as the finale to a 2,000 mile sponsored cycle relay ride (which included other riders in the UK and Switzerland), covering the same distance as the 250 people who would have taken part in the Morecambe Bay event. Over £23,000 has been raised so far.

Continuing along the dandelion theme, their seeds are excellent ingredients in water droplet refraction images! It’s helpful to know that this image is pretty much straight out of camera, with only some basic adjustments in Lightroom to adjust exposure, shadows, and crop. The kind of magnification you can get on a smaller sensor (shot this one with the Lumix GX9) is quite amazing. This was taken at 1:1 lifesize but I’d have to push to 2:1 magnification on my full-frame cameras to get the same composition (or throw half my pixels away).
Yes, I could focus stack an image like this – but do I need to? Sometimes focus stacking (combining multiple images at different focus points to increase the depth of field in post-processing) adds more clutter than anything else. Possibly a bit of extra detail in some of the droplets would be nice, but I like the fact that some are very deliberately out of focus – this helps add a sense of depth to the photo.
There are a lot of moving parts that go into an image like this: lighting on the background, alignment of the seed and flower, focus, composition, choice of flower (determines the entire colour palette of the image), and more. In the three-hour workshops I run, you’ll learn how all those parts fit together to make images just like this. The magic is all in-camera, not in processing and hours in Photoshop! You even get to keep the “third hand tool” used to create these images at the end of you workshop. :)
As spring switches into summer, there will be plenty of new subjects to explore this technique with. It has been on my to-do list for years to shoot water droplets and vines curling around the frame. I’m determined to find the time this year to make that happen. Our grapes are just showing the first signs of new growth, so it shouldn’t be long!

An unusual snowstorm has blanketed parts of Turkey and Greece, causing power cuts and chaos on the roads and flight cancellations. Heavy snow fell here for more than 12 hours on 24 January, leaving thousands of motorists stranded on the Attiki Odos motorway, with those not rescued having to cope with temperatures as low as –14°C as night fell. The Greek government declared a two-day public holiday after the snowstorm.

Lord Mayor's Hot Air Balloon Regatta seen from Surrey Quays at 6am. Finally after a year of cancellations the Balloon Regatta went ahead, it was worth getting up at 4:30am after 2.5hrs sleep to capture. They move so fast though you have to be quick.

After having a cancellation yesterday afternoon and not wanting to waste an amazing day, I asked my friend Claire if she & her sister Sam would be interested in shooting. I've known the girls for a couple years, and Claire (who is also a photographer - www.flickr.com/photos/clairerdal) has assisted me on a bunch of shoots...but I'd never worked with Sam before! I'm looking forward to working with both girls more in the future :)

Following the cancellation of the Class 442 reintroduction GBRf have been awarded a contract to move the sets to Wolverton for component recovery prior to disposal.
As the 442's have buckeye couplings some sort of translator vehicle is required to allow the 66 to lead the move, however rather than using traditional barrier coaches GBRf have chosen to use 2 of their Original Class 73's - 73212 and 73213.
The first of these moves - 5Q85 from Eastleigh to Wolverton - is pictured at South Acton with 442419 and 442410 in tow.

I was originally rostered as fireman on a Steam Driver Experience but the cancellation of that turn offered me the chance to Secondman on a Diesel Driver Experience instead.
We were held at the Down Swithland Starter on our second trip. There had been a small sleeper fire and BR Standard 2 78019 had stopped in section to extinguish it. After discussion with the signalman we were allowed to proceed.
In the early morning sunshine, 'Large-Logo' 37402 and 'Regional Railways' 37425 head east through Shippea Hill, after an overnight engineering duty from Whitemoor.
A promising start, but a large volume of cancellations and rapidly developing clouds soon put an end to my plans for the day
At very quiet Gatwick this evening. I there as my OH was returning from a pre-planned family visit to Portugal. The trip was cut short to head-off the increasing possibility of flight cancellations.
Final day in New York City. I walked around the area of the hotel on Delancey Street, and went to see the Williamsburg Bridge. Lot's of people walking and cycling.
The Williamsburg Bridge is a suspension bridge in New York City across the East River connecting the Lower East Side of Manhattan at Delancey Street with the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn at Broadway near the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (Interstate 278). It once carried New York State Route 27A and was planned to carry Interstate 78, though the planned I-78 designation was aborted by the cancellation of the Lower Manhattan Expressway and Bushwick Expressway.
This is one of four toll-free crossings between Manhattan and Long Island. The others are the Queensboro, Manhattan, and Brooklyn Bridges.

The original plan for this evening was the Brisbane Comedy Festival with a friend. The actual night ended up being dinner at a Thai restaurant due to a COVID cancellation. It’s important to be flexible these days, making positives out of negatives.
after th cancellation once again on the Tuesday this was a definite runner on the Thursday. With sunny spells predicted I took a punt at the location I wanted it on the Tuesday. As as been the situation on many occasions the chance of a well lit shot has been limited. The likelihood of any light on this ten minutes previous was no chance but it did improve. It took this zoomed effort however to have any chance when this came through here.
PsV 2000 Main Battle Tank
Following the cancellation of Sweden’s Strv 2000 program, Finland revived many of its concepts under the designation Panssarivaunu 2000 (PsV 2000). Conceived as a domestic main battle tank for the Finnish Defence Forces, the PsV 2000 retained hallmark features of its Swedish predecessor: a three-man crew, a 140 mm high-velocity main gun, and a coaxial 40 mm autocannon, providing overwhelming firepower against heavily armored and lightly protected targets alike.
Development was led by Patria, with key contributions from Valmet Automotive (hull fabrication and modular armor), Insta Group (fire control and electronics), Millog Oy (systems integration), and Sako (weapons support). Tailored to Finnish needs, the PsV 2000 emphasized cold-weather operability, simplified maintenance, and mobility in Northern terrain. Though never fielded in numbers, it remains a striking “what-if” in Finnish armored history.
Engineering works west of Solothurn led to the cancellation of the St. Gallen - Lausanne long-distance service between Solothurn and Biel/Bienne, with a replacement bus service (the alternating service Zürich - Genève-Aéroport was unaffected). Because not enough ICN type EMUs were available, some rotations on the eastern stretch (where a tilting mechanism is less fundamentally necessary than on the western stretch) were covered by RVD type double-deckers of class RABe 511. Another evening of delays and cancellations at East Croydon. An eight coach class 377 formation makes the delayed scheduled stop in platform 6 with a Victoria to East Grinstead service. I took this shot using the opaque glass of the platform ramp for a reflection.
The message on the bag, belonging to the passenger with the yellow hat, reads 'Lache Moi La Grappe', which translates from French as 'Leave Me The Bunch'. My initial reading of the last two words on the bag was 'La Crappe' which I thought was an apt description of the service that evening through East Croydon!

Main story

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

For that purpose # the presence of radio station producer Ryo Osawa was necessary.
Osawa talks to Kaori during the live radio broadcast.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One # to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other # to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days # staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow # a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left # I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However # I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous # unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

2015. This was only the 4th Sunday this service had run since being taken
over by a class 60. Two nights later on Tuesday 20th, this return run was
hauled by 56 078, which I saw pass through Oakengates at half past midnight
but, annoyingly, the shutter on my camera failed to release when I pressed
it to take a shot of the 'Grid'!
With the announcement of the cancellation of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party this year due to the pandemic, I wanted to share one shot from last year that I reprocessed. Enjoy!
MGAE has been up and down in my books all year, starting with the cancellation of both Desert Jewels Sasha & Neon Runway Sasha. That was in january and time healed those wounds and by the summer I had thought they'd moved into a space of making all the dolls and was very much anticipating a Holiday Sasha as she'd never made it to a holiday collection in years past. Well, tradition was upheld as she was CANCELLED. And I just CANNOT take this any longer.
While I am very fortunate to live in an area that stocks & buys Sashas/Sasha cases, I know this isn't the fortune for everyone and when you allow one character to be segregated to a box all by themselves than things like her not being bought by stores are allowed to happen. I can't pretend that I don't want the current crop of Sashas, especially now that she's being cancelled with such frequency, but as a Sasha lover and as a black doll collector, I can't bare any longer to take this slap in our faces and blatant disreguard to their black fans ANY LONGER.
I want to organize some sort of very classy, very civilized online petition or protest though I really have no idea how to do this. Or even just fans speaking up for Sashas. I doubt that this would make enough of an impact all by itself to truly get MGAE to stop segregating her but I want them to at least know that we aren't pleased as even that would be enough this time. Still, considering that Issac Lorian is himself a man of color, to allow such disrespect of another group of color, especially after being so forward moving in making characters in all ethnicities in the past, is very disheartening.
