Canary Springs, the largest spring at Mammoth Hot Springs. Canary Spring is named for its bright yellow colors.

The white sections are the travertine forms and the orange, yellowish, and brown colors are due to the cyanobacteria living in the springs. The water flowing down the face of the terrace has created multi-colored bands of algae and cyanobacteria.

Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start!

On La Palma bloomed in the second half of April on many brownfields the so-called gold poppy, whose home is California.

Pinus canariensis The Canary Island pine is capable of rising from the ashes like a phoenix. Formerly, due to its valuable tea wood, the man exploited the pine forests, but today they are mainly used for recreation.

London Scenes - various

As the title infers, these will be slices of London, hopefully including every aspect of life. Including Architecture, Sculpture, People, Graffiti, Transport and pretty much everything I have seen over the past 10 to 15 years of photography.

This cute little nautical float home reminded me of a bird house. How perfectly fitting for it to painted in a eye catching, Canary yellow.

Canary Wharf, London. The Millenium Dome, now called the O2 Arena is in the distance.

stumbled upon this epic panaroma recently, let me know your thoughts on this.

Taken from Surrey Quays across the Thames. Combined 10 stop and 6 stop ND filters for a 6 minute exposure. My calculations on this failed and so took a few lengthy attempts to get the exposure right!

The upper terraces at Canary Springs which is part of Mammoth Hot Springs are composed of calcium carbonate. The terraces are colored by orange, yellows and cream colored thermophilic organisms. The water for the hot springs comes from precipitation in the surrounding mountains that runs down into the subsurface. The water is heated at depth. As the water rises it dissolves limestone in the subsurface beneath Mammoth and the surrounding mountains. The hot carbonate rich water comes to the surface and forms the travertine terraces. Geologists estimate that at any given time about 10% of the water in Mammoth Hot Springs is on the surface. The other 90% remains underground.

Genesis is alpha, Apocalypse omega. But Hebrews is the hinge that joins the other two together. Genesis says that we began in a swamp teeming with life, but that something went vastly wrong one evening at dinner. Apocalypse says that the difficulty was finally resolved into something called the Banquet of the Lamb. Hebrews tell how the resolution was accomplished, not in an orchard set in pleasant countryside but in a butcher shop located in the city's center. The World's story from beginning to end pivots upon this resolution, a resolution the faint of heart, the fastidious, and the squeamish find hard to bear.

Unfortunately the sunset on this day was not spectecular at all at Canary Wharf, but the nice blue hour compensated for the disappointment.
