Beste Gerard Dielessen,

ToS voorschrijft) (ToS = Terms of Service)

In mijn wereld.

Ja of nee

Hide and Seek

Girlfriend, are you serious?

Zes Pilaren? Say that again? Nou: Sport and Environment, Women and Sport, Sport for All, Education through Sport, Development through Sport en Peace Through Sport.

Alvast bedankt.

Café Havana is back again in the scene!

This weekend in het Westland and Delft.

The M A N N E Q U I N S #1 exhibitionexhibition was obviously the kick off for the next pride party.

After Madrid (July 1), London (July 2) and Berlin (July 23) we now jumped on the plane for a party in Amsterdam (TPing would go faster but you cannot have it all outside of the Metaverse).

And those Dutchies have come up with a good visionary theme this time: My Gender My Pride.

We were invited on one of the boats during the parade. Super fun with all the beautiful people along the canals.

Now enjoying the video's (and selfies) we shot during the parade at our home <3

XOXO

Sascha Carvalho

Today, August 2nd, Amsterdam hosts the annual Canal Parade, the event where the LHBTQIA+ community shows its most colorful and proud side.

Yet, many have experienced this celebration with mixed feelings in recent years. The freedoms that seemed self-evident for so long are noticeably under pressure. There is a palpable tension in society, which also affects the atmosphere during Pride. For some, the celebration feels less carefree than before. It is now not just a party, but also a demonstration; a necessary reminder that acquired rights should never be taken for granted.

Hence this look back to 2008: when times were brighter for the LGBTQ+ community.

For many, Canal Parade then felt like a carefree, exuberant, colorful celebration of the victory for equal rights; people felt freer and happier in their expressions. The need to fight for one's place in society seemed less urgent, and the focus was entirely on celebrating diversity in all its forms. The hope is that the time of self-evident tolerance and carefree celebrations will soon return.

Amsterdam Pride 2025

In a world where divisiveness is taking up more and more space, love offers a powerful answer. For Pride 2025, the theme LOVE is central, not only as a symbol of romance, but also as a foundation for connection, understanding and solidarity. Love captivates, binds, supports and conquers. LOVE is multifaceted and represents, among other things, the attraction between people, the support people can give each other and the never-ending struggle for equal rights fought together. The announcement of the LOVE theme also marks the start of preparations for the upcoming Pride Amsterdam 2025, including the 28th edition of the Canal Parade.

The Magere Brug ("Skinny Bridge") is a bridge over the river Amstel in the city centre of Amsterdam. It connects the banks of the river at Kerkstraat (Church Street), between Keizersgracht (Emperors' Canal) and Prinsengracht (Princes' Canal).

The central section of the Magere Brug is a bascule bridge made of white-painted wood. The present bridge was built in 1934. The first bridge at this site was built in 1691 as Kerkstraatbrug and had 13 arches. Because this bridge was very narrow, the locals called it magere brug, which literally means "skinny bridge". In 1871 the state of the bridge was so bad that it was demolished and replaced by a nine-arched wooden bridge. Fifty years later this bridge also needed to be replaced. Architect Piet Kramer made several designs for a steel and stone bridge, but the city decided to replace it with a new bridge that looked the same as the previous, only slightly bigger. In 1934 the bridge was demolished and replaced. The last major renovation was in 1969. Until 1994 the bridge was opened by hand, but now is opened automatically.

Use of the bridge has been limited to pedestrians and cyclists since 2003. It is however opened many times a day in order to let through river traffic. The boats used for sightseeing tours are low enough to pass underneath the bridge when closed. The bridge is decorated with 1200 light bulbs that are turned on in the evening.

A story told to tourists about the origins of the 1691 version of the bridge is that it was built by two wealthy sisters who lived on opposite sides of the Amstel river and wanted to be able to visit one another every day (and were presumably too busy, or not in good enough health, to go the long way round via another bridge, of which there must surely have been at least one). In one variant of the story the sisters, although wealthy, were not quite wealthy enough to afford a bridge of adequate width for general use and so built a very narrow bridge, hence its name. In another variant of the story the sisters' last name was Mager, hence the bridge's name (rather than from its narrowness).

The bridge can be seen in a number of films, such as the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever from 1971.

This friday and saturday I will be shooting at the Amsterdam Gaypride! Friday I will shoot the Drag Queen Olympics and Saturday the Canalparade!

Amsterdam Pride

Pride Amsterdam took place from July 30 to August 7, 2022. For 9 days, Pride Amsterdam is all about "My Gender My Pride".

Everyone should feel free to be themselves. It is time to pay attention to the diversity of gender identities and our right to self-determination. We have the right to deviate from the norm and the sex we were given at birth.

Amsterdam Pride was first organized in 1996, meant as a festival to celebrate freedom and diversity. It was therefore not like many other Gay Prides, which began as demonstrations for equal rights. The latter purpose served another event, which is called Pink Saturday (Dutch: Roze Zaterdag) since 1979 and is held in a different city each year since 1981.

The peak of the festival is during the Canal Parade, a parade of boats of large variety on the first Saturday of August.

Due to covid-19 this was the first Canal Pride after two years of absence.

Europride

Europride is a pan-European international event dedicated to LGBT pride, hosted by a different European city each year. The host city is usually one with an established gay pride event or a significant LGBT community. For up to a fortnight, numerous sporting and artistic events are staged throughout the host city. Europride usually culminates during a weekend with a traditional Mardi Gras-style pride parade, live music, special club nights, and an AIDS memorial vigil.

Europride was inaugurated in London in 1992, attended by estimated crowds of over 100,000. The following year, Berlin hosted the festivities. In 2016 Amsterdam hosted the Europride for the second year.

Amsterdam Gay Pride

Amsterdam Pride is a citywide gay-festival held annually at the center of Amsterdam during the first weekend of August. The festival attracts several hundred-thousand visitors each year and thus one of the largest publicly held annual events in the Netherlands. Amsterdam Pride was originally organized in 1996.

The peak of the festival is during the Canal Parade, a parade of boats of large variety on the first Saturday of August, which usually goes from Westerdok over the Prinsengracht, Amstel river, Zwanenburgwal and Oudeschans to Oosterdok.

The center of the parties and concerts during the festival is the Rembrandtplein and during the festival there are many activities in the surrounding area.
