Looking towards Bellfurrows Lock from the top of Rhodesfield Lock which is the last lock before the canal terminus. Numerous trees have been cut down in this section.
The Ripon Canal is located in North Yorkshire, England. It was built by the canal engineer William Jessop to link the city of Ripon with the navigable section of the River Ure at Oxclose Lock, from where boats could reach York and Hull. First used in 1773 and closed in 1956 consisting of 3 locks over its 2.3 miles
In 1961, members of the Ripon Motor Boat Club formed the Ripon Canal Company Ltd, and gradually restored the canal up to Littlethorpe. Subsequently, the Ripon Canal Society spearheaded restoration, which was completed in 1996. It is now managed by the Canal & River Trust

The Foulridge Tunnel is a canal tunnel on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Foulridge, Lancashire. Also known as the Mile Tunnel, Foulridge is 1,630 yards (0.93 mi; 1.49 km) long and was built by Samuel Fletcher, following Robert Whitworth's 1789 survey. The tunnel is the longest in the country to allow passage of canoes and kayaks

The boats are moored adjacent to Rhodesfield Lock on the Ripon Canal. The smart cream boat has just been renovated.
The Ripon Canal is located in North Yorkshire and is 2.3 miles (3.7 km) long England. It is fed by water through a tunnel from the Rive Skell and flows out into the River Ure after the Oxclose Lock. There are 3 locks in total
It was built by the canal engineer William Jessop to link the city of Ripon with the navigable section of the River Ure at Oxclose lock, from where boats could reach York and Hull. It opened in 1773, and was a moderate success. It was sold to the Leeds and Thirsk Railway in 1847, and was effectively closed by 1906, due to neglect. It was not nationalised with most canals and railways in 1948, and was abandoned in 1956

Newby Hall is an 18th-century country house, situated beside the River Ure at Skelton-on-Ure, near Ripon in North Yorkshire, England. It is a Grade I listed building, and contains a collection of furniture, painting, and precious artefacts. The south side of the grounds by the river has extensive herbaceous borders and woodland walks
This is taken from the opposite bank of the river where I was walking a small section of the Yoredale Way. The Yoredale Way is a long distance walk that follows the course of the River Ure, from its source on the high fells in the Yorkshire Dales National Park above Kirkby Stephen, to the village of Boroughbridge.
