Nice (?) storm came through the area this evening. Despite the ominous looks, nothing much developed.
So after some back road driving yesterday morning, I had some running around to do in Camrose. On my way home I noticed some large white objects on Cascades pond. I went home and got my camera and went to the pond. Found these four pelicans swimming around and eating. I watched them for more than half an hour, I found it quite interesting that they all would submerge their heads at the same time looking for food. One was quite a bit larger than the others and I can only assume it was a male (maybe they all were, I'm not a bird person). Very cool sighting right in the Camrose city limits. Taken June 24, 2023.
I left Camrose much later than I thought I would and was disappointed that had missed the sunset. That disappointment faded as an Alberta thunderstorm rolled in just in time for me to get a few lightning shots by one of my favorite abandoned farm houses.
The first storm of the season came through Camrose a few days ago. Didn't really produce too much before the rain came and shut down the photoshoot.
A heavy thunder storm came through the city of Camrose this evening, bringing with it a pretty good light show.
G814 crosses a wooden trestle on the south end of Camrose Alberta on a blue bird morning. Special thanks to the local member of Law Enforcement that didn't have an issue of our creative parking spots to get this shot.
So I went out to shoot one of CN's Armed Forces Tribute painted GE's, and forgot that nose on they look like any other GEVO in the fleet!
Anyway, here's the CN 3015 leading northbound Q114 at Looma Alberta, on the Camrose Subdivision.
An intense storm rolled through the Camrose, Alberta area last night. I spent some time outside taking shots but shut it down as the lightning was just too close for comfort.
Spent a few hours on the roads near Camrose today. Saw this bird (not sure what kind it is other than a hawk of some sort), a couple deer and more birds.
Late fall at Mirror Lake in Camrose. The ice has started to form and with a cool week expected, I suspect it will be fully covered by this time next week.

A nice peaceful evening in Camrose, Alberta. I helped to install this fountain back in early June. I will help to bring it in for the winter in October.
Out for a drive today, something I haven't done for a while. It's the middle of March, -24 Celcius and the wind sculpted some nice snow drifts.
The drive from Lac La Biche, Alerta to Red Deer, Alberta is usually about 4 hours...maybe a scooch less. It took me a little more than 7 hours because I kept finding places like this on the way home. This is in between Camrose and Bashaw. Too bad there were no clouds in the sky on this day.
It is getting close to harvest season in the Camrose area. The swather rows are very cool from above. The city of Camrose is in the background.
Out for an early morning walk today and happened upon this guy. I followed it around a pond in Camrose for a good half hour. It wasn't too concerned with my presence.
Took the dog and headed out to the Camrose County Conservation Centre this morning. It was a bit windy, but, the biggest problem was the birds. Had about 7 or 8 of them swooping at the drone. I quickly descended and packed it in for the day.

I've noticed a big change in the colors of the leaves on the trees in the last week or so. Seems like autumn will soon be upon us in full force.
Another thunderstorm rolled through the area tonight (we seem to be getting a lot of those this summer). After a short break in the clouds this rainbow appeared.

On a bright sunny April day (when I probably should have been busy at my public accounting job doing tax returns or something equally exciting) I followed this train from the east side of Edmonton, down the Camrose Sub to well, Camrose.
The train is approaching the station and passing a pair of grain elevators (I'm sure Camrose probably rated more than two at one point). The train will go just a bit past the station to clear the switch at Camrose Jct., then will reverse on to the stub of the former branch that went north there.
The train had a good mix of Canada, Saskatchewan and Alberta cars.
