No one wants to drop a camera because a strap cord breaks. The sling straps that I use on my cameras guard against that by using an assembly containing abrasion resistant cords that attach to the camera lugs, and the cords also indicate wear level by showing a white inner layer when it's time to replace them.

The straps also feature an attachment mechanism that makes it easy to swap out a bad cord for a new cord when necessary...a push of the button with the "pd" on it allows the circular button assembly that holds the cord to slide out the back of the strap attachment (toward the left here) so that a new button assembly with cord can be snapped in. (The pd stands for Peak Design, the name of the strap vendor.)

Each strap comes with an extra button assembly, but so far, after about four years of ownership, I haven't yet had to use one. :-)

The Radcliffe Camera (colloquially known as the "Rad Cam" or "The Camera"; from the Latin, meaning 'room') is a building of Oxford University, England, designed by James Gibbs in neo-classical style and built in 1737–49 to house the Radcliffe Science Library. It is sited to the south of the Old Bodleian, north of the Church of St Mary the Virgin, and between Brasenose College to the west and All Souls College to the east. The Radcliffe Camera's circularity, its position in the heart of Oxford, and its separation from other buildings make it the focal point of the University of Oxford, and as such it is almost always included in shorthand visual representations of the university.

There is no camera in the mirror. In fact, there is no camera at all in this image. You have just created one (or two). Actually, there would also be no mirror in the camera!

Fuji X-E2. A privatissime between a man and (one of) his camera(s). Cameras can have a mind of their own ("Eigensinn") - especially the advanced ones. When they behave like naughty children it makes me feel better when I am telling them off. Of course, I can also change the settings, but doing only that would make the camera a lifeless object. It is a lot more when I am using it because the camera becomes part of my vision.

I apologize for the long absence. Turns out, flickr is inaccessible in China. Who knew?

Peer pressure still happens at any age. As a lover of toy cameras, I finally gave in and purchased a 'Thermal Camera' - takes small pictures on receipt paper - thermal paper. This was taken mid day in the hot sun. Its going to be fun!

Went on a turkey hunt today, but with a camera instead of my Beretta Over and under. This big Tom was enjoying his time in the light and showing off just a bit.

Looking Close... on Friday: Two

I bought this Yashica FX-D about 1979-1980 and it has been over most of Africa with me together with the Soligor 35-140 zoom lens! Not used for about thirty years and needs drastic attention!

With all the varying light, reflections, shapes and colors in this shot, I think I confused the hell out of my camera's exposure meter.
