SIMMER DOWN International Reggae Festival -- Handsworth Park!

Rooted in North Birmingham and located in the beautiful surroundings of Handsworth Park, Simmer Down is a free family music and arts festival, which celebrates Birmingham’s rich cultural diversity by paying tribute to the centrality of reggae and other musical genres that have contributed to Birmingham as an international city of culture. The festival’s inter-cultural programme features internationally acclaimed artists alongside the very best in homegrown talent.

She has got a very powerful voice and her performance was brilliant...she writes her own songs and she as got some charisma, that will make her go far!

This is the best Reggae Festival, that they put on this year and I really enjoyed, with a cool atmosphere that was here!

Cheers and thanks here, for all your comments and compliments, my Cool Flickr Friends!

I knew the moon was going to be a 70.6% gibbous, so all I had to do was drive 160 miles to the very spot I envisioned this cameo.

The whole time I am driving I was keeping fingers crossed there wasn't too much traffic in the boulders this night.

Guess what! I had the whole Joshua Tree photo studio to myself.

……Taken and processed for Macro Monday’s theme ‘High Key’. This old Cameo brooch on a Gold mount measures just over an inch tall & about ¾ wide, I had it raised off a sheet of white lining paper and lit by natural light on a dull day. Have a great week and be sure to stay Covid safe, Alan;-)……

A new photo encaustic piece on 6”x6” wood panel.

A tiny Island near Agios Sostis at Zakynthos is connected with this bridge to the mainland.

I was out shooting the petals of a Primrose plant, but when I uploaded to my computer, found this beautiful water droplet!

This is another cameo that was discarded after its gold (or silver) mount was sold for scrap. I'm happy that it has a second life with me as a photo model. The piece of lace under the cameo is from the 1930s and the porcelain behind it is Limoges.

For this week's Macro Mondays group theme, 5letters.

A gift to my grandmother, it's well over a hundred years old. For Macro Monday - Oldest Object You Can Find. HMM!

I set up the Olympus on the tripod and ran into the picture trying to blur my image, and it worked.

Flickr Support have asked me to leave my photograph up if it does not appear in your 'update feed' and start generating views as I would normally expect. This is so that their engineers can try to get to the bottom of the issue that continues to plague my account.

As a result this image may have fewer views and favourites than would be expected for a time.

Miniature Bakelite Coronet Cameo made around 1950 , shown with Half Crown coin from same era .

The camera was made in Birmingham UK and would have cost around 17 shillings and 10 pence in old money .

Marquee and entrance to the lovely, old Cameo Cinema at night. Quick snap en passant with the phone camera.

While the 611 is pretty much the center of attention wherever it goes, this time we get a glimpse of it in a cameo appearance as Amtrak 80 outruns it over the Yadkin River Bridge. Quite interesting to note the contrast between the vintage and contemporary passenger consists.

I'm making a cameo in the next Drax Files :D

The welcoming glow of the marquee above the entrance to the lovely Cameo Cinema at Tollcross. Marquees, with the titles of the currently showing films, used to be common in most cinemas when I was a kid, but a rarity now - I'm glad this one still exists.
