The last Calgary skyline shot for a while. I'm going to wait until the Bow is topped finished on the outside and the cranes are gone before doing any more.

This is one of four concrete cast lions, originally placed on the Centre Street bridge (just to the left, out-of-picture) in 1916. The four lions were fashioned first in clay individually, from which 5 plaster molds were made for each of the four. Amazingly, the work was done by a City of Calgary employee, James L Thomson. As a patriotic gesture, they were based on the famous lions in Trafalgar Square. They deteriorated with time, and the four lions currently on the bridge were made from a mold of the best of the original four in 2003. Now, only two of the originals are on public display after extensive renovation - the other is at City Hall.

This photo was taken a few weeks ago during an afternoon spent running errands / taking photos in lovely downtown Calgary.
Here you can see a huge skyscraper rising high into the late afternoon sky, with various other smaller (but still very large!) buildings reflected in its mirrored glass surface.
Hope you all had an excellent weekend, my friends!

Two identical pictures of Calgary's Eighth Avenue Place tower. Just for kicks, I tried some Lightroom treatments on them. Which one do you like better?
I think this is Clematis virginiana, and there was a lot of it near the Calgary Stampede and Union Cemetery.

Calgary, Canada, looking beautiful in the snow today - a fun city.
This view shows the city of Calgary in Canada, north on the right. The Bow River runs through the city from left, the Elbow River in the centre and Calgary International Airport on the right. Clearly visible are the Stony Trail (201) highway at bottom and Deerfoot Trail (2) highway running by the airport.

While Larry was snowshoeing around the West Bragg Creek area, I was on a photowalk in downtown Calgary, nursing a sore knee. These are some of the interesting buildings I noticed
