The sun dives in the Aegean Sea, behind the islet of Nea Kameni. That's the legendary sunset of Santorini, as seen from the terraces of Adamant Suites in Thira.

Souvenir de la vue lors de notre premier souper à notre hôtel Le Volcano View à Santorin, devant le volcan.
Nous avons été émerveillé par ces couleurs changeantes. Qui aurait dit à cet instant que le reste de la semaine serait sous la pluie et un ciel couvert.
Enfin, nous avons été bien reçu ... car je souligne que même sous la pluie et la grisaille, l'hospitalité grecque est imbattable !!!

Oia, Santorini, Cyclades, Greece.
Oia is the most famous, picturesque and beautiful village of Santorini. Situated on top an impressive cliff on the northern far end of the island, offers a spectacular view over the volcano and the island of Thirassia. It's a traditional village with charming houses in narrow streets, blue domed churches and sunbathed terraces.

Oia é o mais famoso, pitoresco e belo povoado de Santorini, situado no topo de uma impressionante falésia no extremo norte da ilha e oferecendo uma vista espectacular sobre a caldeira do vulcão e a ilha de Thirassia. É uma vila tradicional, com charmosas casas brancas ladeando estreitas ruelas, igrejas de cúpulas pintadas a azul forte e apetecíveis terraços ensolarados.

Chers amis, en premier un grand merci pour vos visites, vos commentaires et vos favoris, toujours très appréciés.
Vous trouverez ci-dessous une carte de l'île où j'ai placé une puce rouge pour indiquer l'endroit de la photo.
Je fais un petit saut dans le futur et nous voilà jeudi 9 mai vers 8H du matin. Bientôt le moment d'aller déjeuner et de monter la soixantaine de marches - de quoi profiter d'une spécialité grecque en plus.
Le ciel est un peu dégagé côté mer.
Je sors de notre chambre, et j'observe la vue qui s'offre à moi. J'en profite pour tester le mode panoramique de mon petit compact Sony. Une première. Il me faudra trois tentatives pour comprendre le fonctionnement.
Par contre, au-dessus de notre tête et de l'île derrière, un énorme nuage gris nous attend, stagnant. Il est bien visible sur le côté gauche supérieur de la photo. C'est ainsi que vit l'île, au gré des nuages qui passent ou qui restent. Selon notre perception, nous devrions bénéficier durant la journée de quelques éclaircies. Des amis belges rencontrés nous informerons grâce à leur tablette que la météo reste incertaine.
Au premier plan, au bas de la falaise à gauche, vous avez le port d'Athinios. Repérez-vous sur la carte ci-dessous. En arrière-plan et milieu gauche de la photo se présente l'extrémité sud de l'île, avec Akrotiri et Faros. A droite, en arrière-plan par rapport à l'escalier, nous trouvons le volcan "Nea Kameni", l'îlot juste derrière "Palia Kameni" et l'îlôt de Thirasia, le plus lointain.

You will find below a map of the island where I placed a red chip to indicate the location of the photo.
I make a small jump into the future and we are Thursday, May 9 am to 8am. Almost time to go for the breakfast and to climb the sixty steps - so you can enjoy a Greek specialty and more.
The sky is clear and just a little bit cloudy on the sea side.
I leave the room, and I see the sight that awaits me. I decide to test the panoramic mode of my Sony compact: a first experience. It will take me three attempts to understand the operation.
Nevertheless, there is a huge gray and stagnant cloud ahead and all over the back of the island. It is clearly visible on the upper left side of the photo. Thus lives the island, with passing or remaining clouds. According to our perception, we should benefit some hours without rain. But Belgian friends met at the breakfast time inform us by looking at their tablet that the weather remains uncertain.
In the foreground, at the bottom of the cliff, on the left, you find Athinios port. You can locate yourself on the map below. The background left and middle of the photo shows the southern end of the island, Akrotiri and Faros. To the right in the background, we find the volcano "Nea Kameni", the island behind "Palia Kameni" and Thirasia island, the farthest.

Pour ceux qui suivent nos péripéties des vacances à Santorin, cette nuit-là, j'ai rêvé de ce que devait être un coucher de soleil sur le volcan. Sans doute une visite de mes grands-parents maternels auxquels j'avais pensé dans la photo précédente.

This is what dreams are made of!! Had the most wonderful holiday in the Greek islands, with the family.
Santorini was everyword as pretty as has been reported and to some eyes, like mine, even better.

Un des sports les plus marquants a été la chasse aux rayons de soleil perçant la couche nuageuse.
Vous découvrez ici les chambres distribuées en plateau, accrochées ainsi sur une belle hauteur de la paroi du cratère du volcan. L'infrastructure de l'hotel Volcano view est imposante, haute et large. Elle forme un demi-cercle et fait face à la Caldera, méritant ainsi pleinement son nom de Volcano view.

One of the main activities for me during my vacation was hunting sunlight piercing the cloud layer.
You discover here the rooms distributed in bearings on a big height along the wall of the crater. The infrastructure of the Volcano View hotel is impressive, high and wide. It forms a semi-circle facing the Caldera, and fully deserving its name of "View".
