The Caesars Palace, Las Vegas Hotel

Exercise ARRCADE CAESAR 2015 (AC15), is a study of the Allied Campaign in Sicily (Operation HUSKY) in 1943. With Headquarters Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (HQ ARRC) permanently comitted as a High Readiness Force (LAND) HQ and fulfilling the NATO Joint Task Force HQ commitment since 01 July 2015, the Commander is keen to exploit the opportunity provided by AC15 to bring the ARRC team together in order to enhance their understanding and demands across the land, sea and air domains.

The exercise provides an invaluable opportunity to develop mutual understanding, to enhance component synergy and, using the past as a handrail, to provoke challenging discussion and debate on how to tackle the operational level challenges they may face in the future.

Rimless and distilled.

Gutter explained that they took Rotovac centrifuged Clamato juice (the supernatant), used celery bitters (to keep the drink rimless), distilled celery juice, distilled Worcestershire sauce and distilled Tabasco to make this clear solution. A pickled duck heart dusted with herbed bread crumb topped the drink courtesy of Chef Bangerter.

Besides being pretty, the rose-tinted particle-free drink was subtle, refined clean tasting. Love the use of the giant ice cube which ensured that the already smooth and mainly water based drink didn't get diluted any quicker. Since everyone had a different threshold to spice/heat, distilled Tabasco (added to your own drink via an eye dropper) was also provided.

Loved the attention to detail here and the little surprises (especially how excellent the concentrated particles tasted).

Clean and pure. Really lovely.

CAESAR is a 4 month old American Eskimo puppy who’s very cute, social, playful. He likes to chase a ball and play with his toys, and gets along with other dogs. Since he has some sensitivity to handling, he’ll do well with lots of kind, gentle handling and encouragement.

Caesar needs a calm, low-stress home with older children only.

Caesar lives in Kennel 48.

This is a statue of Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus, also known as Augustus Caesar, heir of Julius Caesar and effectively the first Emperor of Rome. (He was never officially a King or Emperor, it's just that during his reign he acquired so many titles and so much power that despite technically being a particularly honoured Roman citizen, he could pretty much do what he liked.) "Augustus" was actually a religious title, while at that point "Caesar" was a name and not a title.

Here, Augustus is wearing the robes of the Pontifex Maximus, the head priest of the Roman state religion (also an office he held). After his time, this office was generally held by the Emperors of Rome. Nowadays this title refers to the Pope.

This was the infamous party where we, being total geeks, ended up helping Kate (red head with the tape recorder) with her project on Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. I believe we did a spoof of Channel 1 giving reports on the Ides of March. She got an A.

Clockwise from tape recorder: Kate Kelly, Matt Picioccio, me, Allison Edwards, Emily Meehan, Rodney Naugle, Glenn Miller, Louis Fogarty, Leah Carlson

This place has one sweet looking pool...
