La festa della Madonna della Salute è una festa religiosa istituita dalla Repubblica Veneta nel 1630 e osservata solennemente in tutto il territorio della Serenissima fino alla sua caduta. Ha luogo il 21 novembre e ancor oggi si celebra spontaneamente nella città di Venezia e in moltissime città e paesi dell'antica Repubblica, nell'Italia, in Istria e in Dalmazia.
The feast of the Madonna della Salute is a religious festival established by the Venetian Republic in 1630 and solemnly observed throughout the territory of the Serenissima until its fall. It takes place on November 21 and is still celebrated spontaneously in the city of Venice and in many cities and towns of the ancient Republic, in Italy, in Istria and in Dalmatia.

Il territorio Lubriano venne abitato sin dalla Preistoria.
Durante il periodo etrusco, Lubriano e il suo territorio
facevano parte dello stato di Volsinii, attuale Orvieto.
Con la caduta dell'impero romano gli abitanti si raggrupparono nei luoghi più inaccessibili e meglio difendibili, come il luogo su cui sorge Lubriano, e sul luogo ove sorge il castello di Seppie. Il territorio, vide la dominazione dei Goti, e qui imperversò la guerra greco-gotica tra questi e i Bizantini. A questo periodo risale la fondazione del castello di Seppie.
Oggi Il centro storico segue linearmente l'andamento del promontorio tufaceo su cui Lubriano sorge, al centro di esso si apre l'ariosa Piazza San Giovanni Battista affacciata su un balcone sulla valle e sulla veduta di Civita di Bagnoregio.

The Lubriano territory was inhabited since prehistoric times.
During the Etruscan period, Lubriano and its territory were part of the state of Volsinii, now Orvieto.
With the fall of the Roman Empire the inhabitants gathered in the most inaccessible and best defensible places, such as the place where Lubriano stands, and on the place where the castle of Seppie is located. The territory saw the domination of the Goths, and here the Greek-Gothic war raged between these and the Byzantines. The foundation of the castle of Seppie dates back to this period.
Today the historic center follows the trend of the tufaceous promontory on which Lubriano rises, in the center of it opens the airy Piazza San Giovanni Battista overlooking a balcony over the valley and the view of Civita di Bagnoregio.

L'abbazia fu fondata dai Benedettini intorno al 1070, probabilmente da un Mainhard proveniente da Santa Maria di Sitria.
L'abbazia accrebbe presto potere e prestigio grazie a numerose donazioni. Alla fine del XV secolo l'abbazia passò ai Benedettini Olivetani.
L'abbazia iniziò a decadere dal XV secolo. Nel corso delle guerre napoleoniche fu parzialmente soppresso e nel 1860, dopo la caduta dello Stato Pontificio, le sue dipendenze furono divise tra lo stato italiano, il vescovado locale e privati. Oggi parte dell'Abbazia appartiene alla Diocesi di Foligno, un'altra parte allo Stato e la terza parte a una famiglia privata.

The abbey soon increased its power and prestige thanks to numerous donations.. In the late 15th century the abbey passed to the Olivetan Benedictines.
The abbey started to decay from the 15th century. In the course of the Napoleonic Wars, it was partially closed and in 1860, after the fall of the Papal States, its dependencies were divided between the Italian state, the local bishopric and privates. Today, part of the Abbey belongs to the Diocese of Foligno, another part to the State and the third part to a private family.

The Pons Cestius (Italian: Ponte Cestio, meaning "Cestius' Bridge") is a Roman stone bridge in Rome, Italy, spanning the Tiber to the west of the Tiber Island. The original version of this bridge was built around the 1st century BC (some time between 62 and 27 BC), after the Pons Fabricius, sited on the other side of island. Both the ponti Cestius and Fabricius were long-living bridges; however, whereas the Fabricius remains wholly intact, the Ponte Cestio was partly dismantled in the 19th century, with only some of the ancient structure preserved.
The Pons Cestius is the first bridge that reached the right bank of Tiber from the Tiber Island. Whereas the island was long connected with the left bank of the Tiber and the heart of ancient Rome, even before the pons Fabricius, the right bank (Transtiber) remained unconnected until the Cestius was constructed. La scultura SolidSky, realizzata con una pietra (Azul Macaubas) proveniente dal Sud America e che si caratterizza per delle venature azzurre che virano in alcuni punti al blu, è composta da due elementi: un grande blocco cubico scavato al suo interno e una sfera dalla superficie perfettamente liscia. Il blocco di pietra mostra i segni dell'imperfezione della materia, volutamente lasciati visibili dall'artista. Il grande vuoto al centro permette di intuire l'origine da cui ha preso vita la sfera perfetta che si contrappone visivamente all'aspetto non finito del blocco. Dislocate a distanza una dall'altra, queste due presenze scultoree sono idealmente legate tra loro e acquistano pieno significato solo quando le si mette in relazione.
Alicja Kwade: “La sfera in pietra naturale, Azul Macaubas, richiama l’idea dell’esistenza di mondi paralleli e di multiversi, oggetto di ipotesi e dissertazioni fin dall’antichità. Sembra essere caduta sulla Terra da un’altra dimensione. Lo stesso materiale lapideo, con le sue stratificazioni formate nel corso di diversi milioni di anni, ci permette di determinare la sua età e agisce quindi come una sorta di scala temporale”.

The SolidSky sculpture, made with a stone (Azul Macaubas) from South America and which is characterized by light blue veins that turn blue in some points, is made up of two elements: a large cubic block dug inside and a sphere perfectly smooth surface. The block of stone shows the signs of the imperfection of the material, deliberately left visible by the artist. The large void in the center allows us to guess the origin from which the perfect sphere came to life which visually contrasts with the unfinished aspect of the block. Displaced at a distance from each other, these two sculptural presences are ideally linked to each other and acquire full meaning only when they are related.
Alicja Kwade: “The sphere in natural stone, Azul Macaubas, recalls the idea of the existence of parallel worlds and multiverses, the subject of hypotheses and dissertations since ancient times. It seems to have fallen to Earth from another dimension. The stone material itself, with its stratifications formed over several million years, allows us to determine its age and thus acts as a sort of time scale".

On the day of November 1, in 24 hours of torrential rain, the river level had risen fearfully, receiving contributions from other streams located upstream.
Looking at the width of the riverbed, one can guess the impressive tide of water that fell.
Twenty-three days later, is once again a placid blue creek.

Nella giornata del primo novembre, in 24 ore di pioggia torrenziale il livello del fiume si era alzato in maniera paurosa, in tutta la sua larghezza, ricevendo il contributo di altri torrenti posti a monte.
Impressionante la massa d'acqua caduta, che si può vedere nel video del link sopra indicato
A distanza di 23 giorni è tornato ad essere un placido torrente blu.

La chiesa è sorta nel 1645 il luogo di una preesistente cappella, che a sua volta era stata eretta al posto di un pilone votivo, risalente al 1587, raffigurante l'immagine della Madonna: per sua intercessione, secondo la tradizione, sarebbe stata salvata la piccola Margherita Moinar che, caduta nell'acqua, stava per essere travolta dalle ruote del mulino su barche.
La chiesa fu ingrandita nel 1779 e nel 1807 fu costruito l'adiacente battistero. Al suo interno conserva affreschi del primo settecento.

Turin - Church of the Madonna del Pilone
The church was built in 1645 on the site of a pre-existing chapel, which in turn had been erected in place of a votive pillar, dating back to 1587, depicting the image of the Madonna: according to her intercession, according to tradition, the little Margherita Moinar who, having fallen into the water, was about to be overwhelmed by the wheels of the mill on boats.
The church was enlarged in 1779 and in 1807 the adjacent baptistery was built. Inside it preserves frescoes from the early eighteenth century.
Era la prima volta che salivo a Tombal, uno dei luoghi di ispirazione per i dipinti di Giovanni Segantini, che ha immortalato questi paesaggi, i suoi personaggi e cime poi divenute teatro di epiche pagine di alpinismo. Occasione anche per un battesimo stagionale anticipato con la neve caduta nei giorni precedenti, 10/40 cm, poi spolverata in giro dal vento. Giornata bellissima ricca di spunti fotografici.

The valley of light
It was the first time I went up to Tombal, one of the places of inspiration for Giovanni Segantini's paintings, who immortalized these landscapes, his characters and peaks which later became the scene of epic pages of mountaineering. Opportunity also for an early seasonal baptism with the snow fallen in the previous days, 10/40 cm, then dusted around by the wind. Beautiful day full of photographic ideas.

Uno dei quattro leoni posti agli angoli del ponte Solferino a Pisa.
Leoni marmorei originari del 1875. Le statue, realizzate da Giovanni Topi, scultore pisano, raffigurano quattro leoni ciascuno reggente uno scudo con le insegne piane tradizionali: la croce, la Madonna con il Bambino, la gramigna e l'aquila imperiale. Erano rimaste al loro posto sia dopo la distruzione del bellissimo ponte ottocentesco durante l'ultima guerra, sia dopo la caduta di quello ricostruito in seguito all'alluvione del 1966.

Marble lions originating in 1875. The statues, made by Giovanni Topi, a Pisan sculptor, depict four lions each holding a shield with traditional flat signs: the cross, the Madonna with the Child, the bermuda and the imperial eagle.
