Hector Guimard Art Nouveau design with his vision for gates shaped like sinuous tropical flowers. Slender, curvilinear components evoke vines and tendrils, which seem to grow up and out of the two anchoring stems to hold the Métro sign and help position the illuminating floral lights.

- Même qu'il s'appelle Guillaume Joseph Roussel, dit Cadet Roussel car il est le second fils d'un cavalier de la Maréchaussée. Cadet Roussel a bien existé.

a Space cadet, a mixed hybrid. You were mistaken if you ever thought you knew me. Third Eye, got me hearing loudy. In the dark I'm a night light.
The Cadet Chapel is the most recognizable building at the U.S. Air Force Academy and the most visited man-made tourist attraction in Colorado. This aluminum, glass, and steel structure features 17 spires that shoot 150 feet into the sky. It is considered among the most beautiful examples of modern American academic architecture.
Let's introduce Wladislaw. It is not difficult to read his status and profession. The anchor on the cap and embroidered distinguishing marks on the uniform tell us that he is a low ranked marine officer. Perhaps the costume is too big and sloppy for a young body, but even the youngest members of the military are uplifted by impressive decorations. The red band around the arm is a temporary extra, just there for the occasion.
We are welcomed aboard the MIR, a Russian tall ship that sails the seven seas. With more than thirty other vessels from all over the world it is docked for a few days in Scheveningen's fishing harbor. The Sail Festival attracts a huge crowd, but early in the evening the excitement is quieting down.
Wladislaw willingly strikes a pose in the gangboard of his ship, perhaps seeking more confidence at the railing, but his smile is open and genuine. He is proud to be there.
"Yes, I am a cadet," he agrees, "in training to climb the ladder."
How long will it take to become a steersman or even a captain?
"Oh," he hesitates, "ten years...?"
In his early twenties that perspective is simply too far beyond the horizon. Tomorrow he will sail again, climbing the ropes, standing at the wheel. Tomorrow is another day.

For 3 or 4 years before 2020 and all that it brought and wrought, the cadets would hold an all-night vigil at the cenotaph on the night of November 10-11. This year they came back, and I think it is quite wonderful.
I did not use a tripod this year, but after reducing some of the noise, I am not unhappy with my high ISO photos.

Cadet Chapel is a great place for the architecture admirers. If you are around Colorado Springs, make sure to visit it. It sure will be time well spent.
I wanted to take some photographs of the inside of this chapel, but a wedding was taking place, so missed it this time. But one can google and see, it looks awesome.

The Catholic Chapel, located below the main chapel inside the Cadet Chapel complex at the U.S. Air Force Academy is the second-largest chapel on site with the ability to hold 500 people. The focal point of the Catholic Chapel is the reredos, an abstract glass mosaic mural designed by Lumen Martin Winter and composed of varying shades of blue, turquoise, rose and gray tessera to form a portrayal of the firmament. Superimposed on the mural and depicting the Annunciation are two 10-foot tall marble figures, the Virgin Mary on the left, and the Archangel Gabriel on the right.
