Ollantaytambo, Peru--- near the ruins.
We were fortunate to be able to travel once more, and this was a huge bucket list trip--- Peru and Ecuador, with highlights of visits to the rainforest, Machu Picchu, and the Galapagos Islands. Lots more photos to come in the upcoming weeks.....

We awoke to 12 large blooms on one of our Echinopsis "flying saucer" cactus. Each flower is approximately 9 to 10 inches in diameter. They are incredible!
This is a mini cactus from the local Nursery.
Have a wonderful weekend, Everyone!
Thank you so much for stopping by and for the kind comments and favs. They are very much appreciated!
Hi there!
Friday's Flower is a Prickly Pear captured in Arizona, 2015. I liked the warm tones of this bloom and hope you do too!
I began my album, Friday's Flower, to help me keep focused (at least somewhat) on my over- abundance of images. It is amazing how they get out of control, all on their own!
Have a warm and wonderful day! I hope you fill up your cards on the weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Today's blooms--there were five of them. Tomorrow I think there will be 4 new ones. Unfortunately, the ones you see in bloom today will be gone tomorrow.
Echinopsis spachiana/Trichocereus spachianus or Cereus Peruvianus cactus
I usually never post flower's on my site, but this one grab my eye. I found it in my mother-in law- place in Escondido, California I came upon this Cactus that I have never seen before in bloom. I have never seen a flower so big on a Cactus before.

I have always heard of cactus that bloom in the desert, but I haven't seen one until yesterday in the Mojave Desert. I guess the timing was finally right.
Yellow Cactus Flower, Prickly Pear - The unusual heat in this early Spring in Phoenix has brought all the cactus flowers out at the same time on this cactus in the central Phoenix neighborhood of Arcadia. A close view of this yellow flower shows both the translucent petals and the vibrant color. The red to orange center around the stamens present a great target for bees and flies to come visit.

The bright yellow flower of a prickly pear cactus photographed in Hamilton County, Texas in May 2003.
These shots were taken using my iPhone for a series on Instagram that I am doing during the month of April called #cactusinbloom.
