Spotted this Little Flowering Plant in a nearby garden. It seems to be enthusiastic about being alive… sets a great example for us humans : )

LARGE is fun

Thanks to all Flickr friends for visiting !

I am very sorry for long absence - was busy with PC .... still not ready, but I'll catching up !

Opuntia warts have fuzzy hairs,

Some chollas look like teddy bears,

While others look like hatracks gone delirious.

All love the sun. There's only one

That takes night-blooming cereus.

Out west we never miss a chance

To brag about our cactus plants,

A theme on which we may get stuck for hours;

But hold your scorn for spine and thorn

Till you've seen cactus flowers! :-)

A look down into "the engine room" of a cactus flower.....

This picture was taken with a macro lens so we could get up close and personal. We know what type of plant/animal it is do you? (Answer: It is the stigma of a red cactus flower.)

Spring and early summer bring cactus blooms to amaze and delight.

Thanks for the visit!

My cactus was flowering as every year only for one day! The blossom starts to open in the evening and its fully beauty is in the night. Then closes again. Because it has been a cloudy morning it still was good enough to take a photo! In the afternoon it was gone already!

On Sunday, after watching the sun rise, I stopped my car in a trailer park to look at cactus flowers. While sun rose higher, I snapped catching those earlier rays lighting all. It was no stress until a bee or two occasionally decided to land on me.
