Julian Assange's supporters at Ecuador Embassy. London, 21.06.2012
Wikileaks press spokesman Kristinn Hrafnsson and personal friend and surety bond-provider Sarah Saunders made staements this afternoon outside the Ecuador embassy in Hans Crescent to explain that Julian Assange is well and in good spirits as he remains inside the embassy awaiting news of his application for political asylum.
A group of supporters from the Bradley Manning campaign group Friends of Bradley Manning (UK) also arrived to begin a vigil in support of Assange. Members of hacktivist group Anonymous also attended.

There were two solidarity events in New York City July 27th for Bradley Manning. Many of the people in attendance that day, also witnessed truth on trial the previous day, and even attended the Fort McNair July 26th rally. Many people got to learn more about him after seeing a theatrical performance that tells the story of Manning called "Bradass87". You can watch it online, or attend future performances: bradass87.wordpress.com There was also a CableGate library, containing news articles that were published as a direct result of Manning's leaks; everything from detailed accounts of civilian casualties, to corporate influence against wage increases in Haiti. NYC is the media empire of the United States, but it has also been largely silent on the Manning trial. We marched down from Strawberry Fields Park, to Columbus Circle, where we met with another contingent of Manning Supporters and performed Bradass87 play a 2nd time. Public meeting in support of WikiLeaks and Julian Assange - London, 07/02/2011
As WikiLeaks' editor-in-chief Julian Assange fights against legal attempts this week by the Swedish prosecutor to have him extradited to Sweden from where there is a very real fear by many that he will be illegally 'rendered' to the United States where there have been many open, public calls by politicians and pundits for him to be executed or even just murdered on the street without trial, there was a public meeting in support of Assange and WikiLeaks organised by the Stop The War Coalition.
In front of a packed audience of 300 enthusiastic supporters in London's Conway Hall, the speakers were peace activist Jemima Khan, convenor of Stop The War Lindsey German , president of Stop The War Tony Benn and veteran peace activist and historian Tariq Ali, all of whom had attended Assange's first trial day at Belmarsh Magistrate's Court. Assange's legal proceedings have been moved to Belmarsh specifically to make it much more difficult and inconvenient for his supporters to gather and protest.

WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange's bail hearing, 14.12.2010
I know this is definitely old news as Assange is now out on bail and is holed up in the countryside on mansion-arrest with an electronic tag, but I still wanted to post my own personal record of the day, as a large, international Press scrum and a group of enthusiastic WikiLeaks supporters gathered outside Westminster Magistrates' Court whilst Assange's fate was decided inside.
As we know, he was granted bail, but was sent back to prison because the Crown Prosecution Service objected and lodged their intention to appeal this decision. Bizarrely, they seem to have told a bit of a huge fib to Mark Stephens - Assange's lawyer - by telling him that the Swedish Prosecutor was the party objecting to bail, when it turns out it was the CPP all along!
Two days later their objection was tossed out by a judge at the Crown Court.
In the meanwhile, the American Government continues to behave stereotypically, and is now trying to twist and contort US law to find a plausible excuse for demanding that the bootlicking British Government hand Assange over to them so they can show him first hand how right he was to expose their lies, corruption and iniquities to the public view.
Crowd jubilant as Ecuador grants Julian Assange political asylum - 16.08.2012
A large crowd of supporters of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and US soldier Bradley Manning descended on the Ecuador embassy on 16.08.2012 to wait for news of a decision by the Ecuadorean government on Assange's application for political asylum.
At 1:30pm word came through embassy oficials that the government in Quito had granted asylum to Assange on humanitarian grounds. Despite cheering and applause from the crowd, it was widely accepted that Assange's problems are far from over, and this might just be a pyrrhic victory.

Assange supporters at Ecuadorean embassy fear police invasion - 16.08.2012
Following the astonishing statement on 15.08.2012 by British officials that the government is willing to revoke the diplomatic status of the Ecuadorean Embassy in Knightsbridge in order to enter it and arrest Wikileaks founder Julian Assange who is applying for political asylum from the Ecuadorean government - which is making their decision known later today - around 20 Wikileaks supporters gathered outside the embassy in the very early hours of 16.08.2012, fearful that the embassy was going to be invaded by the police.
The police had substantially increased their presence around the embassy, and I had sight of around five officers occupying the main foyer of the embassy. They were also closely guarding the fire exits in case Assange tries to make a break for freedom.
Observers say that if the British did this they would be in direct violation of the Vienna Convention, which governs the rules of diplomacy and diplomatic jurisdictions under international law. Already there have been threats to invade British emnbassies abroad should the Foreign and Commonwealth Office carries out its threat.

"The US embassy in London wrote off Gordon Brown within a year of his arrival in No 10 after concluding that an "abysmal track record" had left him lurching from "political disaster to disaster", according to cables released by WikiLeaks.
In a scathing assessment of the former prime minister, George Bush's last ambassador to London blamed Brown for presiding over a "post-Blair rudderlessness" which prompted senior Labour figures to complain of their despair to the embassy."
