Horseman LX Camera, Nikkor 210mm f/5.6 lens at f/5.6 and 1/15th sec, Fuji Instafilm FP-100B45S

This shot is a test of my "Studio Setup", and I'm wondering what people think of my lighting. This is my first attempt at doing a formal sitting with lighting. I have one light high and to the right providing light on the subject, the other light is low and mainly lighting the backdrop, but is far enough back from the backdrop that it helps fill in the shadows on the subject.

I need a better backdrop, I used a cloth shower curtain, which is why it it has the strange texturing. The lights themselves are 250w 3200K incandescent lights in fixtures that my grandmother had put together for photography. I believe she used them for still lifes, and she shot slide film. I picked up some old rickety light stands a couple weekends ago, and some clamps from Home Depot. I'm using the clamps to hold one of the lights on the stand (the other didn't need it), and to fasten the backdrop to some bookcases.

Obviously my model isn't really suited to doing lighting with a View Camera, as she decided to slouch in the seat between the time I focused, and the time I was able to get the shot.

My second test shot, this time I think I have the exposure right, but in doing so it shows several problems with my lighting setup. His nose is casting a shadow on his face, and there are faint shadows on the backdrop.

This is taken from a colour slide.

Any hints on editing colour slides in Elements 3 ? I found it hard to get the colours right.

One friend suggested using RAW for which I am thankful. Any other tips folks?

Fun with mid tones.
