Standing on the edge of the Reykjanes Peninsula, Hvalsneskirkja is a rare gem built entirely from local carved basalt. There is a profound sense of weight and history here; Hallgrímur Pétursson, one of Iceland’s most famous poets, once served as a minister at this site in the 17th century.

I chose a black and white finish for this frame to emphasize the grain of the stone and the sharp contrast against the vast Icelandic sky.
