Macro Mondays theme "Center Square B&W

 

This is the bottom part of a pine cone. And this is the perfect occasion to count how many clockwise and counter-clockwise spirals you see.

The resulting should be two consecutive Fibonacci numbers (e.g., 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, . . .). 😉

Venezia - Basilica di san Giorgio Maggiore

 

From San Marco you see the island of Saint George, with the church and monastery . This is perhaps the most photographed view of Venice.

The interior is less photographed, although it clearly bears witness to Palladio, in ways that will be abundantly echoed in the English and then American areas by neo-Palladianism.

 

L'isola di San Giorgio, con la chiesa e il convento (visti dal molo di San Marco o dal ponte della Paglia) hanno ispirato nei secoli molti pittori e incisori; oggi è forse la veduta più fotografata di Venezia.

Meno fotografato l'interno, che pure testimonia elequentemente Palladio, con modi che saranno abbondantemente ripresi, in area inglese e poi americana, dal neo-palladianesimo.
