The Lerwick Up Helly Aa is a fabulous fire festival that takes place on the last Tuesday in January. Around 900 men, all in costume, carry flaming torches and drag a Viking longboat through the streets and then set fire to it by throwing the torches into it. The procession is spectacular and attracts people from all around the world.

One of my favourite birds ever and also my biggest bogey bird, there were two courting, a truly wonderful and underrated part of spring in my opinion. Even if I couldn't get a decent shot, dunno how people get close to buzzards, I see them everywhere but always too far away.
Granted it's unlikely Cameron is ever gonna see my ropey picture of a buzzard but just in case : I'm not a ' Thatcherite ', none of my family are or ever will be. I know I maybe shouldn't say these things but what the slime-monster said really made me angry. Hilarious to see Osborne trying to squeeze tears out as though he's actually a being capable of any emotion other than greed and cruelty.....
