I found this place a few weeks ago and stopped here to shoot on a raw February afternoon. These kids are wonderful athletes and this place was buzzing with activity. What a great way to pass an afternoon!

The band 'Tehachapi' : Cookie, James, Constantine & Laura. (From top to bottom)
"Constantine tells me the name of the band symbolises it's strength. 'Tehachapi : Four Seasons and Sweetwater.' He explains it is an American Indian term for a parcel of land located in the Western part of California where green fields and rivers move to the snow capped Mountains of the Rockies. A type of 'Four Seasons into one area.'"
Today my daughter had a party, so us boys were left home alone.
We managed to tackle a racing car LEGO Technics model and built a kit that has a buzz wire and probe for you to try and make it to the end without it buzzing....
Although my daughter thought this was boring on her return and has quite annoyingly been trying to play a tune on it all afternoon...
I took these closeups of a fly I found buzzing in my kitchen. I had to use an old sodium lamp to light it as it was too dark, and I didnt have time to set up a tripod - so I grabbed my only free lamp and made the best of what I could from it. The white balance was totally screwy (inventive uni students know what I mean) but when compensated for it actually gave a really cool effect. I plan to reshoot, now that I see the quality I can get.

We utilized our 1979 kenworth k100c, affectionately known as 'brutus', to boogie north in the wee hours of the morning so our cargo wouldn't fly away. Only got stung once in the process...

After all the rains we got of late, our Railyard park is lush, green with taller plants and grass that along the trails come up as high as my hip. These bumble bees seem meticulously buzz from one blossom to the very next, such a joy to observe.

Buzzing It Down, 2012
Gary Webb (b. 1973, Hampshire, United Kingdom)
Cast aluminum, paint
Incorporating pop art references, synthetic materials, and an exuberant use of color, Gary Webb’s enigmatic sculptures often explore the formal interplay between abstraction and figuration. Buzzing it Down is a large-scale cast aluminum sculpture painted in brilliant and reflective chrome hues. Like round, stacked Lego blocks, each form playfully whips liquid color around the minimalist totem.
