i got sick of my hair so i had some friends cut it.
i forgot to have an after shot taken, but you get the idea.
I have it on good authority that this bee is Leioproctus sp. female. A Flickr colleague of mine asked me to take some video recordings of this native bee while it buzzed from Drumstick flower to Drumstick flower. My little point-and-shoot digital camera is far from perfect so please excuse the amateur footage and shaky camera. This is the best footage I could get. The bees also flew in such an erratic fashion, it was very hard to predict where they would eventually settle!
The Isopogon anemonifolius flowers are on their way out now, but still attracted an impressive variety of species. I saw reed bees, lasioglossum, what I think was Homalictus and perhaps also Braunsapis sp. among others I could not identify. The bees and flowers were found late morning on a fire trail in Faulconbridge, mid-Blue Mountains, NSW.
As usual plenty of characters in the Penny Farthing and Folding Bike events.

Buzz Buzz
I noticed a few honey bees at work on the blue mealy sage when I was out on Sunday so I went back out mid-morning to see if I could capture one. They were moving pretty quickly and it was an extremely windy morning so I didn’t get a great shot. But I like the definition of this guy’s face. I cropped in fairly heavily and because the lighting was harsh, I thought this was stronger in black and white. I also added some grain in post but now think it may be too strong.

It's been a year and a half sicne we last went to Disneyland. And boy have I seen some changes. Not with the park, but with my daughter. The little kid rides (i.e. Peter Pan, Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, etc.) bore her. Jessie is at Disneyland for one thing...riding on rollercoasters. She doesn't even like rides like the Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World, or even Pirates of the Caribbean. The two small drops in Pirates are too small for her. She wants bigger drops and faster rides.
Don't even get me started on the Disney characters. We skipped over Goofy because Jessie didn't want to meet him or get a picture taken with him. She sighed when we told her we were gonna wait for Mickey Mouse to get her picture taken with him. And on our way to Space Mountain (Disneyland's fastest coaster), we saw Buzz Lightyear standing there with NOBODY around him. So I pulled out my camera and told Jessie to go stand next to him. "Noooo! I don't want a picture with him." I told her, "No. You go over and stand next to him for a picture...right now!" :D I think this experience was more for me than it was for her. lol
Seriously...how dare she grow up on me like this! :D Don't get me wrong...I love having someone to go on the big kid rides with (Jane won't. She's a wimp when it comes to fast rides or rides with big drops). It's just that I miss those times where I'd ride the kiddie rides with Jessie. *sniff*
Buzz - a Chinese Crested - would like to wish everyone a Happy Tongue Tuesday. I know hairless dogs aren't everyone's cup of tea, but Buzz is a sweetheart. :))
I got Buzz when I went on a Disney vacation recently. I'm a big Pixar fan. Doesn't look quite like the film version of Buzz, but it was sold at Disney World.
I get a kick out of seeing the subtle "smile" on this grasshoppers face. It reminds me of the "Buzz Lightyear" character from the Toy Story movies.
Hope you enjoy another one of my "Macrofest" captures.....
