I'd never seen this flower before, but it was in a large planted container that I put on my front steps. It's Greek name is Craspedia.
They say the Apple does not fall to far from the tree,
These are part of my sons Victorian buttons collection,
The background of the 2 Buttons are wood veneer,
I must start to post other interesting items from our home.

A backlit macro view of a carved wood button, taken for the Macro Mondays group theme, "Button." The frame represents a span of 1½ - inches across.
Strobist/technical info:
The scene is a 25-image focus stack composite. The button was leaned up against a square piece of crystal, which was illuminated from underneath by the green and blue LEDs of a Coast TX10 Quad Color flashlight. The front of the button was illuminated by a single Nikon SB900 speedlight with its wide panel deployed and a Rogue "Chocolate" gel attached. The flash was placed camera left, slightly above camera level, and two-feet away from the subject. The speedlight was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄32 power through a gridded snoot.
The SB900 was triggered by two PocketWizard Plus X's.
Lens: Tokina AT - X M100 AF PRO D (AF 100mm f / 2.8 Macro) with 12mm extension tube attached.

According to Wiki: Button Gwinnett (/ɡwɪˈnɛt/ gwin-ET; March 3, 1735 – May 19, 1777) was a British-born American Founding Father who, as a representative of Georgia to the Continental Congress, was one of the signers (first signature on the left) of the United States Declaration of Independence.[1] Gwinnett was also, briefly, the provisional president of Georgia in 1777, and Gwinnett County (now a major suburb of metropolitan Atlanta) was named for him. He was named in honor of his mother’s cousin, Barbara Button, who became his godmother.[2][3] Gwinnett was killed in a duel by rival Lachlan McIntosh following a dispute after a failed invasion of East Florida.
A spring hike brought us to Button Rock Dam and this view. Meeker and Longs Peak, in Rocky Mountain National Park, are on the horizon. On this day, we hiked in snow, but without coats.
I have seen and photographed many “Button Bucks” over the years, always wishing them a long and healthy life. Here is my first and only “Button Bull” Moose. This young man was the first moose spotted on our Alaskan adventure and was gracious enough to allow us a roadside photo session for as long as we would like. My wish fro him is the same. Taken just south of Palmer Alaska.
Adventure before dementia.
I'm catching up on many 2021 images from Bodie that I hadn't gotten around to uploading yet. This illustrates why we have just requested 5 nights in Bodie in June for 2022. Most of our 2022 Bodie dates are released for registration!
I'm often pretty busy on these nights, plopping my tripod down and hitting the shutter button, working the lighting and helping others, rather than checking things like focus in my own images. That's fine, I get to go back a lot, I'll probably get the opportunity to re-shoot most of what I don't get quite right on any one night, but my clients might not, so I have to be there for them.

HMM everyone!
The button bush (not sure of correct name) had a branch close to the water which gave me a great background. The bonus was the bee on one of the spheres. Circle B, Lakeland
This button is pretty large at 1½" wide. It dates from the 1900s and it's made of pierced brass and celluloid. The thimble in the background is French and made of silver with a thin band of brass around it. Both the thimble and the china are from the 1910s. Even the single fabric flower is over 100 years old.
Come to think of it, I haven't heard anyone say 'Bold as brass' for a long time, but it's a description my mother used to use. It means 'shameless or audacious'. I'm not sure this button deserves the description, but it just popped into my head. By the way, does anyone else struggle with subject lines? I could just say 'Yes, it's yet another button. So?', but I'll keep trying. :)

This button is a material covered button on a very colourful African outfit I was gifted.
This was actually a see-through button turned blue by light on the background. Next week I promise to find a different color!

Me grandmother's garden, full of treasures.

Doin' my best to keep them alive. Captured while gardening, sun stil high looking down on my shoulders.
These are tiny Kermit Green Button Pom Flowers from a very special bouquet given to me by dear friends at the loss of my brother.
My brother, got me my first job. I was going to be starting my freshman year at UC Davis as a computer engineering major and he knew a supervisor at the company, Radio Shack. He persuaded his friend to hire me in the quality control department. This is something my husband and I still laugh about because of my incessant need and love for details.
Later, after I had switched colleges to the Santa Cruz Bay area, my brother found me another job. He hired me to work at the Video store he was managing. It was great working with him, and I appreciated his confidence in me. Unfortunately, it was a short stint there due to two incidents. I grew up pretty sheltered and when some ladies came in looking for Chippendale videos, I took them over to the Disney section and showed them those rascally chipmunks. They laughed and thought I was joking. I was not.
The other incident that sealed my fate and convinced me that it was a wise move getting out of computer engineering was the morning after I had worked the closing shift. My brother arrived at the store to find a completely crashed computer system. It cost him hours and hours of work re-entering data and I’m sure there was also some embarrassment with the owner of the store since it was his sister who was responsible. He never yelled at me or fired me.
Through those college years his home was always open to me and I will never forget his generosity. He had a smile that could light up any room and it will be greatly missed.
Spikes....b&w macro shot.
This is actual radio/cd switch in my car ... zoomed in with Nikon macro lens. ...interesting?

15mm cast glass button, the detail is in high relief, approximately 200 years old.
(iridescence) caused by alkali (soluble salt) being leached from the glass by slightly acidic water and then forming fine layers that eventually separate slightly or flake off causing a prism effect on light bouncing off and passing through the surface which reflects light differently, resulting in an iridescent appearance.
Four lights @90 degree intervals, sitting on a mirror.
White balance was set to incandescent which has given the button a blue cast, purely for the effect.
found in a leet ditch that dated from the late Georgian period (early C19th)

For 'Macro Mondays' theme of 'Red'.
A case of KISS - 'keep it simple stupid'!
Couldn't have a simpler picture than a mirror with just a tiny red plastic button out of M's sewing box - and yes, she does know I have it!
As for the background Bokeh - I'm still experimenting with this Russian lens but I have got the sort of result I was trying for. A case of living and learning.
