The White Peacock, Anartia jatrophae, is usually found in the United States in south Florida and the Lower Rio Grande Valley where it can be common to abundant. The ones seen in Texas often have less orange than those in Florida.

This beautiful Blue Morpho butterfly was at the Wings of Fancy exhibit at Brookside Gardens this year. There were many butterflies coming out of the cocoons that day and every one of them were amazing.
I used my lensbaby composer lens for this shot.
À mon avis il est le roi, par sa beauté et sa prestance. Cette année on a la chance d'en voir plusieurs dans mon jardin, Signe que sa population est grandissante. Beaucoup d'efforts on été mis en place pour le protéger depuis plusieurs années afin de sensibiliser les gens et éviter sa disparition. Faire connaître l'asclépiade, qui est sa plante hôte a nul doute contribué à cette augmentation.
In my opinion he is the king, by his beauty and his presence. This year we have the chance to see several in my garden, sign that its population is growing. Many efforts have been put in place to protect it for several years to raise awareness and prevent its disappearance. The milkweed, which is its host plant, has certainly contributed to this increase Monarque. Monarch Buttefly. Danaus plexippus. Québec, Canada.

Not many breeding locations left in Wales for these specialist butterflies, habitat loss, climate change, change of land manage ect, all have taken its tole on this species, but they're clinging on to one last sight locally in Bargoed.

This is Britain's smallest butterfly, the Small Blue, which is about the size of the nail on my little finger. In Britain their only larval foodplant is Kidney Vetch (Anthyllis vulneraria) but they only feed on the flowerheads. The female carefully selects a flower head of kidney vetch, tasting with her feet and antennae that it is the right species. Then she dips her abdomen into the flower to lay a single egg on one of the florets. The newly hatched caterpillar will eat a hole in the calyx then will venture inside to feed on the flower parts and developing seed. Small Blue caterpillars are cannibalistic so the female must check a flower head very carefully to make sure there isn't already an egg there. Because an earlier-laid egg would hatch first so would be bigger and more likely to be the eater than the eaten. They sometimes pupate in the flower head but more usually low down in surrounding vegetation.
I had this concept on my mind and I decided to do this.
And I just discovered this photo is Explore #9. Now I'm jumping all over the CAR.

The trick I find with trying to get these shots of the butterflies is to get them on a flower that will allow you to have a decent background that will not pull your attention away from the main subject.. such as this shot here, where i focused on a flower that stood above the rest and just waited for the Monarch to come to it... which he eventually did....

a beautiful place some 40 kms from Trivandrum towards Palode n take deviation from Palode to Mangayam waterfalls. well maintained under Eco development project, lots of butteflies, dragonflies n insect life n reptiles including snakes, apart from beautiful scenery . u can even plan a family trip n there's seperate place for women for bathing if that's de choice.
we reached there accidentally due to our chief navigator slept deeply but still without our knowledge he directed us from his dreams n finally when we reached Palode, we understood that we were wrongly guided n found him sleeping like an Infant :D foolish US.
