Fleißige Insekten im Garten

18th September 2016, in our garden.

Worker-foraging bees collect nectar by sucking droplets with their proboscis (a straw like tongue). The nectar on its own provides immediate energy in the form of carbohydrate sugars. Worker bees jobs include housekeeping, feeding the queen, drones and larvae, collecting the pollen and nectar, and making the wax.

As humans, one thing that we can learn about life from honey bees is teamwork, as they are natural teamplayers. If one bee is suffering or falling behind, the others step up and do the work, making sure that collective productivity is never reduced.

Lovely Friday to all!

So nun ist der Frühling auch bei mir im Garten angekommen, und die fleißige Biene sammelt Nektar an den Krokussen,

Now, the spring begins in my garden. The busy bee begins to collect nectar.

Banking the curve in racing:

The slope of the turns, which can help cars enter and exit the corners. A flat track would have 0 degrees of banking. A track with 15 degrees would have significant banking. The higher the degree of banking, the faster the cars will be able to travel.

When I have errands to do on Saturdays, I often take a diversion / stroll through the city park (I have an annual ticket for the park) to wind down a bit. This time I was able to enjoy the first signs of spring and glorious sunshine. I stayed much longer than planned - watching the few adventurous bees buzzing about : ))

Smile on Saturday theme On the Move

A little on the small side but I managed to capture this bee on the move.

Our Rhoddodendron hedge is coming into full bloom and is alive and buzzing with all sorts of pollinators. Such a lovely time of year 😄

Happy Smile on Saturday! 😄

Well, this is my entry to the bee contest.

Was taken today, hand held in the blustery wind, typical of an August winter's day in southeast Queensland.

No edits, SOOC.
