I was in Cuba literally days after Fidel Castro died and the country was still officially in mourning. It was hard to get what the Cuban people really thought of Fidel - there was evidently a great fear of speaking freely but then in a place where the government monitors who stays where each night, including at the B and Bs, they had no idea who they were really talking to I suppose. But there was no doubt some genuine grief among many.
This shot was taken at Trinidad bus station during this period. A time in history where Cuba was genuinely on a cusp.

Preston's bus station. An example of the architectural style known as Brutalism. Completed in October 1969. it has Grade Ii listed status and has polarised opinion in the town ever since.
Architect Annebregje Snijders came up with a canopy of tent cloth to be used on the busstation which resides on the tunnel roof of the A2. This canvas hangs between a triangular steel frame that is attached to meters high columns - creating the effect of a cathedral.

Extra bijzonder is de kap van het busstation.
Drie Zwolse kunstenaars hebben deze verfraaid met kunst.
Op de kap zijn bekende en minder bekende plekken uit Zwolle te zien.

Waiting for the bus we turned around and saw this wonderful blooming bush. The bus arrived and I took my phone.

Op zondag 13 december 2015 neemt Connexxion het busvervoer in de concessie Hoekse Waard/Goeree-Overflakke over van Arriva. Bij wijze van afscheid nog een terugblik op het Arriva-tijdperk in deze regio.
Arriva 8322 is zojuist van het busstation Heinenoord vertrokken en rijdt via de busbaan naar de A29 richting Rotterdam,

On Sunday 13 December 2015 Connexxion will take over the busservices in the franchise Hoekse Waard/Goeree-Overflakkee (south of Rotterdam) from Arriva. By way of saying goodbye a quick look back on the Arriva era in this region.
Arriva 8322 has just departed from busstation Heinenoord and heads via the buslane to motorway A29 towards Rotterdam.

Het splinternieuwe busstation boven de perrons van NS-station Den Haag Centraal ziet er futuristisch mooi uit.
Deze foto is uit de hand geschoten, dus binnenkort toch maar weer eens met mijn statief op pad.
