Trunks of dead conifers near Torridon village, Scotland. The trees were destroyed in a wild fire in 2011..
I am neither addicted to death nor depressed, I am probably 'a bit or more' burnt out at the moment, yes I am.
I don't want to trivialise this. It is what it is.
In spite of all that, these days are a good time to think. About everything and nothing, even if I sometimes tend to brood...
And therefore also now:
A smile every day

This burnt forest at Bryce Canyon shows slow recovery but offered an eerie but beautiful photo opportunity against the clearing storm cloud backdrop.
Sun rising behind clouds on the horizon in upstate, South Carolina, USA, with darkly silhouetted trees in the foreground.
Unedited color, with a minor crop and minimal touch-up.
I write this with a heavy heart. The last couple of years have found me with a progressively debilitating spinal column and joint problems. If it were just me, I would never ask, but I have 2 young daughters that look to me for support, so I have to swallow my pride...
If you are in a position to help, I have setup an account to accept donations, even as little as the price of a coffee. Anything would be greatly appreciated. See my "About" page on Flickr for the link. Thank you.

The owner of this abandoned house turned up while we were photographing it. I think he was quite bemused by our interest! He said it was the best in the area when it was built.
