The highlight of the holiday was undoubtedly the visit to the At-mosphere lounge on the 123rd floor of the Burj Kalifa. This was taken from there. I don't have a head for heights, but this was just something that had to be done. I didn't take very many good photographs today. This is a reflection of the stunning landmark Burj Kalifa that I took as we were talking along the walkway from the Metro to the Dubai Mall and I quite like the image.
Burj Khalifa is the tallest man-made structure in the world, at 829.8 m (2,722 ft). It is part of a 2 km2 (490-acre) development called Downtown Dubai at the 'First Interchange' along Sheikh Zayed Road, near Dubai's main business district. The tower's architecture and engineering were performed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill of Chicago, with Adrian Smith as chief architect, and Bill Baker as chief structural engineer. The primary contractor was Samsung C&T of South Korea.
Burj Khalifa was designed to be the centerpiece of a large-scale, mixed-use development that includes 30,000 homes, nine hotels (including The Address Downtown Dubai), 19 residential towers, the Dubai Mall, and the 30-acre man-made Burj Khalifa Lake.
