After we finally found our cute little cabin we decided to explore the nearby town of Marion. We "found" this beautiful train station that had been converted to hold shops. The arched door on this end was a barber shop and of course Anita went in to have a chat and get some shots! Haven't seen those yet! I'm including a photo of our cute little cabin in the woods. It had a tiny living area, a miniscule kitchen and Two bedrooms with complete full baths! Each had 2 bunkbeds and that took some getting used to but we really enjoyed that place! It had the name of Sycamore Lodge. :)

How far back in your life do your memories remain fresh?

How many of your childhood treasures do you still own?

Very few playthings remained in my life, but I do have my accordion and the bunk bed my father made for my dolls! I wish I could read the title of the sheet music and the doodles on my blackboard. Would also love to have my old "Brownie" pendant!

Back from Girl Scout Elf Academy! Quick rundown of the fun - 17 degrees outside, slept in a bunkbed, 7:15 wake up call, learned the flag ceremony, lots of singing, canned green beans, lots of crafts, learned how to use a compass, fire safety, ate s'more's, drank 10 cups of tea, made sugar cookies and loved being with my daughter. Remembered my camera, forgot my memory card :/ otherwise, we had everything we needed to stay warm. Quick image to check it off for the day, was hoping it had more to do with the day but alas this is all I have to offer.

ODC - all in a row

Hand carved TEAK Dragon Style bunkbeds, Persian rug, and a Ralph Gallagher original Cigar Store Indian.

Walking around Mount Ruapehu I stayed at Mangaehuehu Hut where the desert environment of the rain shadow starts changing to patchy mountain forest and tussock. Not being a good early riser I took the photo from my bunkbed. Mount Ruapehu has several peaks which form a ring around the hot crater lake. Shown in the photo are Girdlestone Peak on the right and Tahurangi (Mount Ruapehu's highest peak) on the left.

Another view of the McAdam Railway Station, McAdam, New Brunswick, Canada. The railroad pond is on the right, out of frame. It provided water for the steam engines, and was created by the railroad company damming a small stream. Unheard of thing to do today. These tracks are still in use by freight trains. No more passenger trains since December of 1994. At its busiest, 16 passenger trains per day would pass through here. The station even had a single cell, bunkbed jail where Railway police could hold people for various offences against the company.

This was my first or second time at this cabin. It sits off in a dead end canyon, and, consequently, does not get a lot of visitors. Which is a very good thing. The interior is filled with all sorts of quirky things and a coupe of comfy bunkbeds. No sign of mice, either.

This cabin has a name, but I'm not going to add it here. Let's keep this one as safe as possible.

This is the last year the I no longer have full size photos from my Death Valley trips.

We are revisiting my trips to Death Valley, starting in 2003, and posting one photo a day from each trip, in antipication of my upcoming trip next month.

View from the Appalachian Trail. The Great Gulf Wilderness is in the center foreground. The peaks are from right to left - Mt. Madison(5367'), Mt. Adams(5794') and Mt. Jefferson(5712'). Side trails from the Appalachian Trail will take you to each summit. Madison Hut located in a col between Mt. Madison and Mt. Adams will supply you with community bunkbeds with breakfast and dinner made by the hut "crew".

Louisiana houseboat camp

I am beginning to think I need a set just for milkweed.....the flowers, the insects, the seeds, the pods...the sheer fluff !!!

So much fodder for fotos ...fun !!!

LATER: I made the milkweed set...and I like it !!!

Mr Fox and Mrs PB recently took delivery of their own bed.

It hadn't been an easy decision! On one paw Mr Fox wanted bunks. That way he'd minimise the probability of being either thrown out of bed or having the duvet stolen. The downside of a vertical arrangement however would be fewer polar bear hugs, and Mrs PB gives the best hugs in the realm! A dozing polar bear on call, is also probably the best protection out there!

In the end, hugs and protection won out. Despite clinging on for dear life, and entwining himself in it completely, a tug of war over the duvet soon broke out. And although, being a polar bear n all, with no need of a duvet Mrs PB won. On a more positive note they managed a whole hour without anyone falling out!

my new bunker complex! I have been working on this for the past 5 days and I think the outcome is great ;)

I would like the thank my pals who helped me throught the proces of building this in LDD! :)

I slept on the bottom bunk.

The pillow cases and blankets I made by cutting my old... pillow case. Everything else is LEGO.

Inside my room at the historic McMenamins Olympic Club Hotel in Centralia, WA. The walls of all the rooms are covered with murals telling of the history of the hotel and the city of Centralia. The hallways have historic photographs as well as additional murals.

This particular morning I woke exceedingly early with creaking noises from a worryingly wobbly bunk bed. We were all for the first time in a family room at the Whitby YHA, (highly recommended by the way). Recommended that is, if you are that special type of person who looks exceedingly healthy and is up before dawn to do clean, fresh, good for you activities. (Ha, I’m only half way there by the way). Anyway we tiptoed out of the room, not before managing to pacify Cathy that I was going to be careful with her son. Well after breakfast we headed for Saltswick Bay. I knew it was about fifteen minutes away on foot, (from plenty of post sunset walk back to Whitby), but had not countered in my little apprentices speed, or the lethal conditions on the path down to the bay.

Oh man, it’s bad enough when it’s wet, but when there is snow covered mud and you’re making every effort to make sure your accompanying offspring doesn’t slip and end you up in a very sticky situation, you concentrate very har! Even if the conditions are leaving you ecstatic with joy, knowing you must get down to the water’s edge before ether sun gets too bright. Anyway we did manage to avoided mishap and ended up witnessing a very special morning. There is something so exhilarating about dawn on a beach, but when you have your son, snow and the memories to treasure, it can’t get any better!

Along with Kindergarten, we're turning the boys' room into an actual Boys' Room. Bunkbeds & a cleaning of baby clutter.

Thanks to Sir Chino for the pics and the permission to upload it.

"in case you want to print it out poster-size and tack it to the ceiling above your bunkbed."

The Sleepy Hollow Farm is incredibly picturesque and consists of 115 acres of fields, woods, gardens, trails and ponds. This small cabin from the 18th century has bunkbeds and a wood stove. I can imagine the coziness, the togetherness, of people staying there some two hundred years ago.
