Narcissus was a hero in Greek mythology

Narcissus possibly derived from ??? (narke) meaning "sleep, numbness," in Greek mythology was a hunter from the territory of Thespiae in Boeotia who was renowned for his beauty.

He was exceptionally proud, in that he disdained those who loved him.

Nemesis saw this and attracted Narcissus to a pool where he saw his own reflection in the waters and fell in love with it, not realising it was merely an image.

Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus died ...

These here, with salmon trumpets, are a fragrant variety.

I (maybe wrongly) make a distinction (wrongly), based on that fact, between Daffodils and Narcissus...

Take care, be safe!

Have a wonderful day, filled with love, M, (*_*)

Bunch Creek Falls is one of the many waterfalls to be found in Olympic National Park. Boasting a height of nearly 60 feet and cascading through a series of rock drops the falls can produce a hefty spray that can quickly drench the unaware observer. It's a good thing that I was an aware observer. I did need to wipe off the old glasses though.

Best guess is between 200 & 300 of the statuettes in this yard.

This was taken on a recent frosty morning. I snapped a bunch of other car pics which you'll no doubt be seeing in the future. This is the car that was right next to that pile of frosty leaves that I recently posted.

My Chinese Pistachio tree (Pistacia chinensis) is now covered in these expanding bunches of new flowers? . Soon leaves will sprout and provide dappled shade to the garden below and cover for the Wattlebirds flitting about. I am watching these unfurl and found they are flowers not leaves as I originally thought! www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/chinese-pistach...

The first bunch of daffodils of the year arrived courtesy of the supermarket food delivery. Ray had ordered them as a surprise. The supermarket sent two bunches by mistake......

"I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze."

from Daffodils by William Wordsworth

Thank you very much for your visits, comments and favs.

I would have been enjoying the tulip displays at RHS Harlow Carr this weekend but am having to make do with this supermarket bunch of tulips.

This is my character design for Mother Bunch, who has many old oral English folk tales attributed to her. But some (if not all) scholars doubt her actual existence. How appropriate is that for a fairytale author! She apparently is a repository of old (in some cases medieval) fairytales and other folklore. I am using her as a character in the illustrated story I am writing. I will probably do about 200 images of her face to curate a small collection to use to generate a Lora. Then I'll be able to generate her face from all angles and with all her expressions. Finally I will be able to inpaint her face in the clothes she might have worne in the early 17th century in England. (Ignore the clothes she is wearing now.) And in my story she will be found in her typical evironment. She owned an alehouse it is said. Perfect place because other characters can be found there, including a character selling chapbooks. I found a description of her in a collection of stories in an old reconstructed chapbook. attributed to her. The picture of her that I designed and generated shows her typical state of mind. She loved jests and one chapbook attributed to her is a collection of jests and little stories about life in 1604 in rural England. Fantastic find in my research!

During our hike we met up with this hungry bunch, who were very eager to see us - probably they thought we would have some food... This was the moment just before they ran towards us, while colliding and pushing each other. It wasn't a very pleasant moment for us seeing these huge animals stampede our way!

Loved by the birds, I imagine.

Taken this afternoon because... No challenge....just because....
