De buizerd is de meest voorkomende roofvogel van Nederland. Op warme dagen is de buizerd vaak hoog in de lucht te zien, waar de vogel in cirkels op de opstijgende warme lucht zweeft. Als het weer hiervoor niet geschikt is, dan jaagt de vogel zittend vanaf een hoge uitkijkpost
