Minnesota Highway 108 was under water and closed this spring and remained closed until the beginning of October while the state built up the highway. Beautiful hundred year old oak trees died across the highway due to the high water.

This place has quite the buildup. Entrance to the Sierra, "Times Square of the PCT", and so forth. We found Kennedy Meadows to be nominally hiker-friendly, with some important caveats.
First, the good: you will eat and drink well at KM. The front deck is an excellent place to hang out. Cheeseburgers, Ben & Jerry's pints, cold beer. Also, free camping on-site. Washing machine available, but no dryer, so no washing your sleeping bag before the Sierra.
The biggest issues were water and sanitation. All the porta-johns available to hikers were in a state of deferred servicing, i.e. overflowing with waste. This actually wasn't a big deal - hikers just poop in the woods. To be fair, they were pumped out the second day.
Worse, two minutes into my shower, water stopped flowing to the entire compound. There was nowhere to obtain drinking water for several hours, except for the Kern river 1/2 mile away. The staff, who appeared quite accustomed to this situation, said that the water tank probably ran dry, and the well pump took a long time to fill it back up. They said there would be water tomorrow, and eventually let hikers fill up bottles from a working sink in the back of the store.
The store felt rather empty and didn't have much selection of hiker food. Glad that I shipped a resupply box here.

The biggest problem is often algae buildup. Exterior surfaces (Especially high moisture areas) are prone to moss growing under or between shingles. Moss doesn't need a root structure to grow; it just needs moisture, flowing water, and some shade, which can make a roof vulnerable. This buildup can deteriorate shingles, obstruct proper water flow, and cause damming. To fix it, never power-wash your composite roof: it'll cause unnecessary wear and tear. Instead, call a contractor and they can apply a chemical solution on the algae. And to prevent it from happening, remove decaying elements (leaves and limbs) from the surface since it acts as food. Also, cut back your trees to avoid over-shading.

This drain line hasn't been touched in 20+ years! It's truly amazing how much crap can accumulate over time.

More weld build up on the loco drawbar. The ends are now done, and attention has turned to the straight part of the bar. This is welded by turning 180 degrees after each pass to balance out the inevitable shrinkage caused by a cooling weld thereby minimising the chances of bending the bar…. Probably another ~200 or so welding rods to go before it will be ready for machining….

ok so this is a really old picture that my sister took of me at huntington library. ive been planning to go to this little secret jewish cemetery that looks really cool to shoot. its been raining almost non stop though so its been difficult. im going to take this opportunity to share 5 more things about myself since i only did 5 last time
