The seismic forces are a real threat to the old buildings which are not built using modern architecture and techniques to withstand the devastating effects. Such building structures need to be modified to become more resistant to the seismic activities. Some of the commonly used techniques for retrofitting are adding steel braces, jacketing and the addition of infill walls. The following infographic depicts more information about the seismic retrofitting techniques.
