Liverpool Exchange railway station was a railway station located in the city centre.Of the four terminal stations in Liverpool was the only station not accessed via a tunnel. The station was badly damaged during World War II and lost a large proportion of the trainshed roof, which was never rebuilt, remaining an iron frame. The station's long distance services were switched to Liverpool Lime Street in the 1960s, and, as a terminus, the station became redundant in the late 1970s, when its remaining local services switched to the newly opened Merseyrail tunnels under Liverpool city centre. It was closed in 1977, being replaced by the new Moorfields underground station nearby.

Designed in 1864, GPO is the major post office of West Bengal and one of the most prominent landmarks of Kolkata. It has a Postal Museum that displays an excellent collection of artifacts and stamps.

After gathering for 14 years as a mission of Coliseum Baptist Church, twenty-six charter members created the Carrollton Baptist Church at the corner of Maple and Cherokee Streets on November 16, 1898. Three years later, the city of Carrollton was annexed by the city of New Orleans. The small congregation of Carrollton Baptist Church then purchased property on the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Hillary Street and changed the church name to Saint Charles Avenue Baptist Church. The lot on the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Audubon Street was purchased in 1924, and in 1926 the church moved to its present location.

About

Gyeongbokgung was the first royal palace built by the Joseon Dynasty, three years after the Joseon Dynasty was founded. Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung was located at the heart of newly appointed capital of Seoul (then known as Hanyang) and represented the sovereignty of the Joseon Dynasty. The largest of the Five Grand Palaces (the others being Gyeonghuigung, Deoksugung, Changgyeonggung, Changdeokgung), Gyeongbokgung served as the main palace of the Joseon Dynasty.

Gyeongbokgung continued to serve as the main palace until the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592 – 1598), when all of the palaces were severely damaged. It was not until about 1868 that the palace was reconstructed and expanded to a 410,000 square meter complex with over 500 buildings. Gyeongbokgung flourished for several decades in this state until the Japanese once again demolished the palaces during their occupation of Korea (1910-1945). Most of the restored buildings were torn down, Gwanghwamun Gate was relocated and the Japanese General Government Building was constructed in front of the main area of the palace.

An effort by the Korean government has been ongoing since 1990 to rebuild and restore the buildings that were destroyed during the Japanese occupation. This 40-year restoration project aims to fully restore Gyeongbokgung Palace to its original form in the next twenty years. Currently, the palace is open to the public and houses the National Palace Museum of Korea and the National Folk Museum of Korea. Although only about forty percent of the buildings have been restored, there are still many beautiful things to see at the palace. Some of the palace highlights have been noted below.

Mather Tower, Chicago, IL (later Lincoln Tower, as designated on the Michigan–Wacker Historic District roster; now identified primarily by its address) is a Neo-Gothic, terra cotta-clad high-rise structure in Chicago. The 521-foot-high building is sometimes called "The Inverted Spyglass" by Chicagoans due to its highly unusual design, a 21-story octagonal tower atop a more conventional 20-story rectangular "box." Briefly the tallest building in Chicago at the time of its completion in 1928, it remains the city's most slender high-rise structure at only 100 by 65 feet at its base. The interior space within the upper octagonal spire contains the least square footage per floor of any Chicago skyscraper. It was designed by Herbert Hugh Riddle (1875–1939), the architect of the Chicago Theological Seminary, as headquarters for the Mather Stock Car Company, a builder of rail cars for transporting livestock. Its design was greatly influenced by the pioneering Chicago Zoning Ordinance of 1923, which placed no limit on the height of new buildings as long as the surface area of the structure's uppermost floor did not exceed 25% of its footprint. This resulted in a multitude of tall, slender, "setback" towers, of which the Mather is an extreme and unusual example. The top floor of the octagonal spire has only 280 square feet of floor space.

Obidos is the classic Portuguese fortified town, and is one of the most picturesque locations in Portugal. Obidos radiates Portuguese charm, from the narrow cobbled streets, the quaint houses, through to the imposing medieval castle, which once guarded the region.

The Monastery of Batalha was erected in commemoration of the 1385 Battle of Aljubarrota, and would serve as the burial church of the 15th-Century Aviz dynasty of Portuguese royals. It is one of the best and original examples of Late Gothic architecture in Portugal, intermingled with the Manueline style.

Namisum is a tiny half-moon shaped island located in Chuncheon, South Korea, formed as it was inundated by the rising water of the North Han River as the result of the construction of Cheongpyeong Dam (청평댐) in 1944. Its name originated from General Nami (남이장군),[1] who died at the age of 28 after being falsely accused of treason during the reign of King Sejo, the seventh king of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea. Although his grave wasn't discovered, there were a pile of stones where his body was supposed to be buried. It was believed that if someone took even one stone from there, it would bring misfortune to their house. A tour company arranged the grave with soil and then developed Namisum into an amusement park.

Although most Western visitors to Korea haven’t heard of the small island, chances are very good that many Asian housewives have. That’s because the picturesque place, also known as “Namiseom,” was a setting for the 2002 KBS hit drama, Winter Sonata, starring Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo. Many credit the drama with launching the first Hallyu, or Korean cultural wave across much of Asia.

Today, thousands of Korean pop culture fans make the pilgrimage to Nami Island to retrace the steps of Bae and Choi, and to snap their own photos of the spots immortalized by the wildly popular series. Walking around the island’s many sights, it’s impossible to avoid the joyful laughter of middle-aged ladies who can hardly contain their excitement as they follow in the footsteps of a great love story.

It is one of the few surviving pieces of the former grand estates which once existed in the downtown core. The future of the building was cast into doubt when the neighboring First Christian Church announced plans to redevelop the entire block. The congregation had bought the house in 1971, and sought to expand parking for its members. The house was temporarily moved to a different location in 2007 while the neighboring property built an under ground parking facility and returned once construction was complete. After that an extensive renovation occurred for Raven & Rose which later opened as a restaurant in the building. .
