The front end of this excellent and super-shiny 1969 Meyers Manx VW Beach Buggy, seen at the 2017 Brisbane Hot Rod Show.
The 2,332cc motor had twin 48mm carbs, with a Nitrous Oxide kit to give it an extra 100 HP kick.

This wheel bug is fully developed and waiting to capture some prey. Note the beak folded underneath the head. The wheel on back may be some type of protective mantle.
Found this guy on Halloween night on the garage wall . I had no clue what he was , after about an hour of searching the internet I found him . I also found out that if I was bitten by this it would have felt 10 times as bad as a hornet sting .
We started our fist ginger bug today that in a few weeks will lead to our first home made ginger beer. The bug starts with a cup of water, 2 tsp sugar and 2 tsp shredded ginger.

Adult shield bugs are attractive insects, easily characterised by their flatish oval or five-sided shield shap (the pentatomids). They are often called stink bugs because when threatened, some species produce a pungent liquid from special glands near their hind legs (poke one and then sniff your hand). Most shield bugs feed on plant sap and some are pests of economically important crops such as coffee and cotton. Few gardeners would consider them to be pests, although the noxious liquid they produce can taint the taste of some fruit. Most shield bugs need symbiotic bacteria for the digestion of the sap. They acquire this aid-to-digestion at an early age, their mother smears her eggs with the bacteria so that the young nymphs ingest them as they feed on the egg case. Unlike many insects, shield bugs often show parental care, guarding their young from predators. The Parent Bug (Elasmucha grisea) is so named because the female will actually sit on the eggs until they hatch. This reduces levels of attack from parasitic wasps.

I saw this bug doing something unusual, in fact funny, one late afternoon in the forest. After I took the photos I relieved it from its predicament and discovered why it could not flip over on its own. It was stuck on a patch of sticky web presumably left by a spider. I had thought it was practicing yoga!
