Church on the Spilled Blood, St Petersburg Russia
This is St Petersburg's most elaborate church, with a classic Russian Orthodox exterior and interior decorated with some 7000 sq meters of mosaics. Designed by architect AA Parland and the archimandrite Ignaty, the church incorporates elements of 18th-century Russian architecture from Moscow and Yaroslavl, and is so lavish it took 24 years to build and went over budget by 1 million roubles - en enormous sum for the times.
When you're a busy mom like this pretty lady there isn't time to get a professional pedicure. You take things into your own hands......or mouth and hands.
People just decide that their boat isn't worth it anymore, they dump it or maybe it breaks down. According to CJ a local boat captain it costs they county about 15k to remove these boats and they only have a budget each year of 85K. So, when these owners determine enough is enough for them, they remove the VIN numbers and anything of value and let the rest of us pick up the mess. I really dislike people like that. Best part.... If you look at the name of the boat close up... Integrity.
I'm not sure what was going on here with this old Standard Vanguard perched somewhat precariously on this truck chassis! I did wonder what may have happened if I removed the block of wood that was acting as a brake from under the LHF wheel.....

Feb 29, Mumbai, India: Brokers at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) stay glued to the TV screen as the Finance Minister P Chidambaram reads out the Union budget 2008 at the Parliament in New Delhi.
Safeway and former SuperS Drug Store located at 860 and 872 North Delaware St. in San Mateo,CA. This is (in my opinion) the most intact Safeway and SuperS Drug Store combo remaining. The Safeway received a few very low budget updates in the early 1980's removing the abstract interior and white-washing the walls and painting the same phrases e.g. "Garden Fresh Produce" with basic red lettering. Aside from the paint and the 1980's aisle hangers the layout of the store has hardly changed at all. The proof that changes have not been made is the colored floor which went in with the specific departments Red=Meat, Yellow=Dairy, Green=Produce, etc. Best of all the exterior of the store still has a mosaic CircleS symbol. The SuperS became a PaynSave then a Bills Drug Store. Bills was purchased by Longs and many locations including this one were remodeled and the Bills name was dropped for Longs Drugs. The exterior of both buildings remains in very good condition with very little renovations ever taking place!
Unfortunately all good things seem to come to an end. This shopping center is slated to be heavily remodeled and Safeway plans to takeover a portion of the former SuperS now Longs. A bit of supermarket history will be gone when this shopping center is renovated this Fall of 2008.
In order to get sufficient budget for auction, I decided to sell my favourite tenor saxophen.
If it sells more than my expectation, I would like to buy Hasselblad, but if it doesn't, I would buy Pentacon Six...

The sand dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei are amongst Namibia's most memorable sights. However, to get to them, the last 5km of the journey is over sand and you need a 4WD. If you're a budget traveller, and could only afford to rent a 2WD, you have the option of paying for a 4WD taxi, or walking, which would save you 10 Euros one way (in 2006).
In the early morning, quite a few of us walked in. But by noon, with the temperature up in the thirties, sanity prevailed and the taxis were doing a good trade for the journey back to the tarmac road.
