Was given a microlight flight about 2 years ago for my birthday by my wonderful other half and then had half an hours notice to go a couple of weeks ago. Panic! Do I take the camera, which lens etc. Took the d600 with the behemoth 70 200mm all in at 2.2kg! The blades that are behind you spin at 600mph at the wing tips and anything that could drop off a camera could be catastrophic so have to remove lens hood screen cover, little plastic thing on hot shoe etc. You are sat behind the pilot (Des) with about 6 inches gap between us so very cosy but no room to move behemoth camera so after clonking Des in the rear of his crash helmet I decided I couldn't shoot to the right at all so a bit frustratingly I decided to only shoot on the left side. An evening flight whith lots of haze an glare so lots of washed out harsh photos. Decided not to ware gloves so I could feel the camera controls so also got a bit cold too. Due to bubble visor on helmet couldnt really use viewfinder well and live view was too close for my eyes to focus on so it was a case of point camera in vague direction and click. Though so much noise from engine you couldnt here the click anyway. Did manage to get some nice shots but would need a rethink next time. Thanks to Des and family for the ride.

Here's a test of my Lego TtV contraption. The shot on the left is with the bubble visor flipped up, and the shot on the left has the bubble visor down, covering the lens. It should come in handy next time I'm shooting a Doris Day movie, I guess? Or it could be the start of my pseudo lomo technique . . .
