Black throated blue warbler soul captured.

A Black Throated Blue Warbler photographed while out foraging for food last month.

BTB. Calliptamus barbarus (Costa, 1836)

commonly known as, the “Eurasian Pincer Grasshopper”.

Family: Acrididae.

Adults from June to October.

The Calliptamus species are known as short horned grasshoppers. (The similarity of grasshoppers, makes some species difficult to identify, hence the BTB (believed to be) before this species name). Calliptamus barbarus does has a variation of colour forms, which can make it difficult to identify sometimes.

This is a common grasshopper, found mainly in Southern Europe. As far south as some North African countries.

Habitat: Mainly rocky habitats as well as open scrubland, with rocky slopes, stony and sandy areas with various vegetation.

Feeds on a variety of grasses, herbs and plants. Will also feed on small insects.

Grasshoppers hatch in the Springtime, mature quickly to breeding status and will die, in the same year.

Black throated blue warbler. Welcome back my friends! So good to see something other than a white throat.

I can't say enough about how the beauty of this sim build inspires me to write. No editing required.
