Looking up at the BT Tower from its base, there are clear hints of Brutalism in and around its lower parts. Due to the high ISO, the sky was burnt out, so some "Sky Replacement" was used to set the monument against something similar to what was there that particular evening.
This was my first attempt at brutalism architecture, I am satisfied with the result, but the next one will not be in minifig scale. I do not have that many LBG parts :). And I am missing symbolism in all of this.
The Anderston Centre, Glasgow, a deeply unlovely place, even as it was being built, passing it in 1969 I remember thinking how ugly it was and the years haven’t helped - although, astonishingly, the good readers of an architecture magazine, Prospect voted it in at number 54 in the best 100 modern Scottish buildings. #anderson #andersonglasgow #glasgowarchitecture #scottisharchitecture #brutalist #brutalism #brutal_architecture #brutalistarchitecture #architecture #glasgow #glasgowcity #glasgowcitycentre #geometric #patterns #glasgowblackandwhitephotography #blackandwhitephotography #monochromatic #monochrome

A view along Francis Street in the city's Longwood Medical Area sees the facade of the 1980 brutalist Brigham and Women's Hospital main entrance as well as the imposing chimney of the Medical Area Total Energy Plant, completed in 1986, a tri-generation micro-grid power plant servicing the mission-critical work of the numerous hospitals, research institutions, schools and colleges in the district. Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

This is an abandoned Soviet-era concert hall on the outskirts of Tallinn, Estonia. It was built as part of the 1980 Moscow Olympics, and in its heyday held concerts by big names like Duran Duran. Now it’s mostly abandoned and crumbling away, in a very eerie post-apocalyptic way. The kind of place I love!

Lingonberries and Space-transcending Crows: Helsinki and Tallinn
Looking back from St James Park tube station entrance, perched between Petty France (on the left) and Queen Anne's Gate (on the right), the Ministry of Justice stands formidably firm and resolute against Westminster's varied skyline, exuding an Orwellian Totalitarian sensibility with its Brutalist lines.

In lieu of everything that’s happened these last seven years, it feels important that this institution becomes aware of men who are emotionally and psychologically raped and bullied by women… And does something about it.
As several men (who work in professional and respectable jobs) have said of late, they fear nothing is being done about it in this country, and the true figures are remaining immensely under reported, not only because of societal conditioning and stereotyping, but also because of bias and inequality, especially when looking at similar crimes that are committed by men and women, with very different verdicts being bestowed on men and women, showing how sexism clearly plays a role everywhere (see Robert Henley Woody’s book entitled “Risks of Harm from Psychopathic Individuals” that briefly mentions this problem).
If equality between the sexes is to ever be spoken about and addressed fairly and with itegrity, then it needs to cover every facet of our lives, both those obvious and those not so obvious. We need to remain ever vigilant against biases and taboos, as well as psychological abuses, making sure we look out for everyone: men, women and other genders alike. Regardless of which ever group we identify as, we owe it to ourselves to look after each other.

On March 4, 2025, it was reported that the property of the Romano L Mazzoli Federal Building is up for sale as part of federal government cost-cutting.
The Pearl, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Design (late 1960s): T.P. Bennett and Son.
The Pearl stands out as a bold example of Brutalist architecture in Newcastle, creating a striking contrast with the city's other architectural styles:
It towers over nearby Tudor and Georgian buildings, highlighting the city's architectural evolution.
The juxtaposition of The Pearl with historic structures like those on Grey Street showcases Newcastle's architectural diversity.
