The Kiste (chest) river empties out into Lakssjø. Here in the river the salmon were caught in special FLETTA KASSER (chests). This is why the place is called Kiste.
The salmon fishing stopped in 1650 when the owner of Fritzøe in Larvik, built a pond in Farris, and the salmon were closed out.
But it’s still a nice area for fishing and swimming.
