Give us our daily bread|
He/she virtually took the bread out of my mum's hands but much preferred the seeds and fat balls that I purchased for them the following day.

Wenn so etwas auf der Karte steht, muss es nicht viel mehr geben (na gut, vielleicht ein kühles Bier dazu)

If something like this is on the menu, there doesn't have to be much more (well, maybe a cold beer to go with it)
Goes together like bread and butter.

Macro Mondays: Goes Together Like.
Bread and butter is sometimes used to mean something ordinary. When the term bread and butter was first used in the 1700s, it referred to one's basic needs. It wasn't until the 1800s that the phrase came to means one's income or livelihood.

Brown bread is popular in New England. The molasses makes a sweet tasty bread that is steamed rather than baked. It was a staple in our family when I was growing up - baked beans, brown bread, and hot dogs, every Saturday supper.
The remains of the day!

To me the thing that divides 'real' bread from the mass produced kind is that real bread creates so many crumbs! Crust crumbs, and the softer bread crumbs. And the same goes for a real cheese - it too crumbles. So this is the remains of the Ploughman's Lunch (previous shot) once the mid-day meal is finished,

There's a pub lunch called A Ploughman's Lunch, which is basically bread and cheese - and it was indeed the staple mid-day meal for most farm workers. All you needed was a jug of beer and your trusty knife to complete your lunch. So I tried to give a flavour of the real rough brown bread, with whole seeds in it. The cheese is my own favourite Blacksticks Blue - a bit up market for a ploughman I guess ... but it was in the fridge ;o))
The following shot is the 'after' one, when it is all eaten

"Do the small things of life with a relaxed awareness.
When you are eating, eat totally -
chew totally, taste totally, smell totally.
Touch your bread, feel the texture.
Smell the bread, smell the flavor.
Chew it, let it dissolve into your being."

Summer pudding with brown bread ice-cream and pistachio. Making more use of the berries in season. Blogged here.
This month's special from our supermarket is a tall brown loaf full of health-giving things such as sesame seeds and apple fibre. Killing two birds with one stone with the photo which fits iron photographer 261 and the weekend project bread culture.
Requirements for ip are:
1- Something which is associated with the place where you live.
2- An object you have found by the roadside.
3- A big blur.
1 is Swiss cheese, in this case mature gruyère which has a gritty, crumbly texture and is known as caramel (a name conferred upon it by the French restaurant critic and chef Jean-Pierre Coffe)
2 is a branch of artificial wisteria I found by the roadside in Berne and which had escaped from the decorative door-hanging of Globus department store
3 is the plants in the background.
