this is a massive expansion of 20+ images ft. a new thrifted winter red dress i recently found

On my way home from meeting Nicky I did some grocery shopping and contemplated how this life has begun to merge with reality.

Just a few years ago it was unthinkable for me to show myself in public. My life as Emma was indoor, in private, in set-up photos. It was just fantasy. When I first went out into the world three years ago I did nothing but stand, watch, or walk on past. I was there as an observer, not interacting with life at all.

Gradually I discovered that there is really no need to change back into my old self to accomplish everyday tasks. I began buying shoes, dresses and makeup en femme. It is much more relaxing to look like I belong in a ladies department and not have to hurry as I did before.

Now I am taking on ordinary activities which are unrelated to my female side, like supermarket shopping and I'm pleased to say this girl is merging into real life, it's not just fantasy.

January is almost over and I must admit,.. I haven't done that many fashionable activities. Trust me, when you're working on geeky and science-y things together with other geeks around you towards a deadline... fashion is the last thing on my mind. :-P

Fortunately, earlier this month, the weather was sunny (though still freezing cold!), so I met up with my long-time friend Bianca for some catching up and among other things.. we also visited the famous Hermitage Museum.

As always, when travelling to Amsterdam, it's easier and cheaper to park outside the city and take the public transport into the inner city. You can see it was pretty cold.. leather gloves, tights and long coat and boots! It was below 0 degrees Celsius (that's 32 degrees Fahrenheit for you Yanks :-P ).

Farmers boot, Norfolk - heaven knows where the other one has trotted off to. He should have kept an eye on it, like I did.

Doc Martins, and hand knitted socks, what more could you want...?

Relaxing at a friend's house after my morning walk

A night at the Theatre to watch 'Entertaining Angels'.

It was a very good amateur production, really enjoyed it.

Thanks to Lise for getting the tickets.

Stood in front of the Cunard Building, looking very cold !!

Carefully walking along an ice laden path at a local park early in the morning. It was so peaceful and quiet. I really enjoyed being dressed up for the occasion.

The weather was a right shambles, but it brightened up later.

Something different as I go outside wearing a ball gag concealed by my turtleneck.

My new friend Nicky and I met again yesterday in the Edinburgh Botanics. That's the same place as last time, but it's so pleasant and close by that we find it hard to think of anywhere better.

After lunch in one of the cafes, we chatted whilst wandering. Nicky knows so much more about plants than I do and was quite delighted with the huge clump in the foreground. I just sat between the soft plant and a rock

It won't be too long before I put away my winter turtleneck dresses.

All set for six weeks of winter or spring,

Firework display at the Pier Head was spectacular.

I just love dressing up in leather and the way it feels on a Wednesday. I feel so relaxed on this special day wearing a pair of stiletto boots!
