Stumbled upon this video (5 years old now) of my initial 9G centrifuge training at Brooks City Base, and thought it would be beneficial to share. For those unfamiliar, 9Gs of gravitational force multiplies the weight of your body 9 times, making it difficult to keep oxygen in your lungs and blood in your head. With the help of a G-suit, technical breathing, and proper muscle strain, you can train your body to sustain significant gravitational force; a requirement to be able to fly a high G-capable aircraft. The Air Force Research Laboratory centrifuge at Brooks City Base, Texas is used by researchers to investigate present and future areas of acceleration and protection. It is equipped with four electric motors producing a total of 1000 horsepower. This can produce a G-onset of 6G per second in the gondola at the end of the arm. It has been used to develop new protective equipment such as pressure breathing systems, advanced anti-G suits and physiological conditioning programs to increase G tolerance and advnced straining techniques that pilots of the new high performance aircraft need to survive and perform in the new high-G environment. the moving van pulled up and it made it all real...we were leaving this place we love. took all day for the them to pack up the house and put it in the van. we were wore out! living in hotels the last two weeks and need to catch up on pp my 365.
This is, I think, the longest hallway I've ever seen. (At the apparent end, in this photo, the hall jogs a few feet to the left and continues on.) This is inside the Embassy Suites hotel in south San Antonio.
This two-image composite shows the hotel we stayed at in San Antonio. It's located on the former Brooks Air Force Base, which is still in the midst of heavy commercial development and thus has plenty of empty space around it. It's also well-located for easy drives to tourist sites around the city.
Between our hotel and SE Military Drive was this abandoned parking lot, probably once part of the former Brooks Air Force Base, that doesn't connect to anything.
(Just beyond the end of this photo is S New Braunfels Ave., but it doesn't connect to this parking lot.)

Near our hotel, on the southeast corner of the intersection of S New Braunfels and SE Military (in San Antonio) were a couple of roads that didn't connect to anything around them, and an abandoned parking lot -- all probably part of the former Brooks Air Force Base.
