Lovely to see this late brood of mallard ducklings in the park today!

This is the first brood of ducklings I've seen this year. Hopefully there will be others and hopefully most of these cuties will survive. Seen at Huntley Meadows Park.

The photo is of a feeder channel to a reservoir.

Not a recent photo. Taken five or six years ago.

Thought F9 would be enough to get the wings will have to try to focus stack and try again if the conditions are the same.

A Green-veined White [ Pieris napi Summer brood] on Tufted Vetch, this morning. I liked the colour contrasts.

Mt Taranaki, from the Pouakai Circuit/Crossing. The nasty weather was out to the southeast, I was glad we were on this side of the mountain. This walk is proposed as an alternative to the very (overly) popular Tongariro Crossing walk. It definitely comes close.

Huntley Meadows was just LOADED UP with Cicadas this morning. It was exactly the kind of Cicadapocalypse experience I was looking for... well... almost (honestly, even MORE would have been totally fine hahah). Anyway, here's a shot I captured of a pair hanging out together, that I think turned out nicely. Just love these things. Can't wait to hear them start singing!!

Townhill Loch Dunfermline 28/04/2022

When traveling through the New Forest near sunset it's very difficult not to get distracted by all the possible composition, but to avoid disappointment it's sometimes better to stick to the plan.

The shot was taken about 30km. north of "Brooder" heim.

Near Redwater, Alberta.

Cuckmere Haven, East Sussex, England.

Captured at Hope Gap, during an unusually quiet and atmospheric afternoon...I hope you enjoy and thanks for viewing.

At least in bald eagle age- a second year Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) atop a large cottonwood tree surveys the scene near sunset. Another eagle of the same age was on a branch about 15 feet to the right of this one, providing a great ventral-dorsal contrast for easy i.d.

Wast Water.

Lake District National Park.

Cumbria, England.

Wast Water was awarded the prestigious title of Britain's Favourite View in the TV show of the same title.

Wast Water is the deepest lake in England, at 79 metres (258 feet). The head of this valley is surrounded by some of the highest mountains in England, including Scafell Pike and Great Gable.

This castle must have been quite spectacular in its day, the views from the ruin are quite magnificent. I would have hated to be an invading army, the climb up to it is rather steep and the thought of having to fight when you got to the top i would not like to have to do.

Red-chested Cuckoo (Cuculus solitarius)adult Tanzania_0254

A mostly greyish cuckoo with banding below, including a broad rusty band across the upper breast.

The immature has barred underparts and a charcoal back, throat, and breast.

It can be very secretive, and when it flies fast on pointed wings, it strongly resembles a small goshawk.

Its brood-parasite hosts include wagtails, robin-chats, and thrushes. Resident and (in the southern parts of its range) migrant. Its presence is most often evidenced by its incessant and loud three-note “Pete-my-wife” song!

體長約13公分,全身大致為均勻之鉛灰色,公鳥尾羽栗紅色,母鳥尾上覆羽白色。因體型、體背和腰部的顏色與生長在其它地方的鉛色水鶇有差異,因此列為台灣特有亞種。

The weather wasn't playing nice on the day we visited Tetons National Park...this is decidely NOT the view we were hoping for.
