Slowly starting to catch up with you

There are 9 types of echinacea, three of which are used for medicinal purposes, native to North America. In herbal medicine, the leaves and seeds of this plant are used, but its roots have the most valuable healing properties.

For centuries, Echinacea has endowed people with its extraordinary beauty and healing properties. For its lovely inflorescences, Echinacea is called the "American golden flower" or "evening sun". And today, with its unusually attractive inflorescences, it will decorate any garden, and beekeepers will appreciate it - after all, it is an excellent honey plant. Blooming from mid-summer to mid-autumn, Echinacea flowers attract many butterflies, bees and bumblebees to the garden. As a honey plant, the plant is valuable because it blooms at the end of summer, when the main honey plants have already faded. From one hectare of continuous crops of echinacea, 60-130 kg of honey can be obtained.

Only Echinacea purpurea has been well studied, it is widely used in medicine and is popular in ornamental gardening. The American Indians, knowing about the healing power of echinacea, cultivated it centuries ago and used it as a universal medicine for a variety of diseases.

Echinacea roots and herb contain essential oils, resins, phytosterols, carbohydrates, isobutylamides, fatty oil, and a variety of other substances. 7 groups of biologically active substances have been found in plants, which include polysaccharides, flavonoids, caffeic acid derivatives, essential lipids, alkylamides, vitamins and trace elements.

Experts recommend taking echinacea for any septic conditions, symptoms of blood poisoning, meningitis, bronchitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, burns, boils and purulent ulcers, gangrene, stomatitis, gum disease, candidiasis, psoriasis, eczema, inflammatory processes of the genitourinary system, postlercosis , gonorrhea, herpes, hemorrhoids.

As it turned out, echinacea not only stimulates antiviral and antibacterial immunity, but also directly, like antibiotics, causes the death of bacteria, viruses and some fungi. It is especially effective to use echinacea during epidemics, as it helps the body to cope with viral diseases. Echinacea extracts inhibit the growth and reproduction of streptococcus, staphylococcus, Escherichia coli. The preparations of this plant are effective in the treatment of prostatitis, gynecological disorders, various wound processes (trophic ulcers, osteomyelitis). Juice from fresh inflorescences accelerates blood clotting. In general, the remedy is recognized as non-toxic, but in some cases it is not recommended to take echinacea - during pregnancy and lactation, with tuberculosis, leukemia, multiple sclerosis, collagenosis.

Cool like two chicks in one nest ..)))

Yasnotka is a little miracle.

Standing in green camouflage.

And leaves in the form of a heart wisely

Here they turn green on the landscape.

And white flowers,

all full of cups of nectar.

And all day long bumblebees are on them,

they drink it all over, like hussars.

.....A wide range of therapeutic and preventive applications, especially the juice of the grass Yasnotka and its sweet white flowers: improves appetite, metabolism, disinfects, relieves inflammatory processes; cleanses blood, skin; helps to improve anemia, insomnia, bronchitis, pneumonia, diseases of the spleen, liver, kidneys, internal bleeding, neurosis, dysentery, cystitis, arthritis, edema; in gynecology; restores after strokes, a harmonious restorative tonic. It can be used as a regular tea. Or a little leaf powder – as an additive in food; fresh herbs – in complex green salads. It is also used externally. Slightly lowers the pressure.

Summer is finally here. . .no more lock downs or face masks . . .life is a carnival!!

[we both had Covid and fortunately it was only like a two-week flu, though Lynn did have a bout of bronchitis that lingered a little longer.]

The flower heads on these wildflower plants are approximately 1" wide and exude a very sticky resin. In many places, it's considered to be a noxious weed. The Native Americans used its flowers and leaves for treating bronchitis, asthma and skin rashes. They usually bloom from July through September.

Thank you for your visits, faves and comments. Have a great day!

Happy Bokeh Wednesday!

Sorry I have been out of touch as of late. I have been down with a nasty Sinus infection and bronchitis combination, that has had me down like a one two punch. Feeling better now...if I can just get caught up!

Anemone hepatica (syn. Hepatica nobilis), the common hepatica, liverwort, kidneywort, or pennywort, is a species of flowering plant in the buttercup family Ranunculaceae, native to woodland in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. This herbaceous perennial grows from a rhizome.

The flowers are blue, purple, pink, or white and appear in winter or spring. They have five to ten oval showy sepals and three green bracts.

Medieval herbalists believed it could be used to treat liver diseases, and is still used in alternative medicine today. Other modern applications by herbalists include treatments for pimples, bronchitis and gout.

Under the name Hepatica nobilis, which is now regarded as a synonym, this plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

In last week I saw first hepatica in the forest. Yesterday there were already much more of them :)

Przylaszczka pospolita (Hepatica nobilis) – gatunek rośliny wieloletniej z rodziny jaskrowatych.

**I will be kinda off for awhile. I got bronchitis and the flu. I think the stress of caring for sweet schubert with the lack of sleep for a long long time did me in.

I ain't as young as I used to be.

Till my soul is full of longing

For the secret of the sea,

And the heart of the great ocean

Sends a thrilling pulse through me.

It has been a difficult week, an insane heatwave,

four days of temps above 105F, dense smoke choking out PDX from the Canadian fires, and to make matters worse,

i am fighting a terrible bout of bronchitis .

We escaped to the coast where the temperature reached 90F, unheard of in these parts, finally a real beach day in Oregon :D

stay cool my friends, happy sliderssunday!

RIP Sacha, tragically taken away from us today due to cancer aged 7

Sacha had been treated for bronchitis for 12 weeks at the Vets, but sadly

after a second opinion from another veterinary surgeon, was sent for an x-ray and found to have cancer of the lungs and brain.

Sacha was my daughters dog, we bought Sacha and Sheena together, to beautiful sisters, they have always had a strong bond from being puppies.

Yesterday I went to a park for a walk. I didn't stay long, not only because it was very cold but mainly because my bronchitis isn't completely gone yet and on a walk you soon feel if you are not really fit yet. I took the camera with me but at this time of year the park isn't very interesting. The highlight of the walk was an encounter with a pair of Egyptian geese who were looking for something to eat near one of the frozen ponds.

They are still blooming in the forest :)

Going out and taking pictures is not possible.

I am also far behind when it comes to commenting and favoring your photos.

11 days are enough ... I hope the antibiotic finally works.

Haven't been able to get out, so this is from last weekend (when I shouldn't have been out.) Now waiting for my bronchitis to get better so I can take some new pictures.

We are alive ! My Covid infection has been quite bad this time but the worst is over now. I'm feeling exhausted and still have a bronchitis but it's getting better. Tofu has been a good nurse, he stayed near me all the time although he hates my coughing. I will try to comment again but won't be able to catch up as right now I need all my energy to make sure that I don't fall behind even more with my work.

Will be back, bronchitis,, need to rest a bit thx for understanding <3

I have a few more words today

We have cold and rainy days lately, but forsythias already start to bloom. In the housing estate where I live are many of them :)

Forsythia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Oleaceae (olive family). There are about 11 species, mostly native to eastern Asia, but one native to southeastern Europe. They are deciduous shrubs typically growing to a height of 1–3 m (3–9 ft.) The flowers are produced in the early spring before the leaves. Forsythias are popular early spring flowering shrubs in gardens and parks. The flowers are edible and can be used as medicine to treat headaches, colds, fevers and bronchitis. It acts as an antibiotic, antiviral agent and blood detoxifier.

Forsycja (Forsythia) – rodzaj krzewów należący do rodziny oliwkowatych.

Ica -Huacachina Lagoon 2022 1119

Huacachina is built around a small natural desert lake, commonly referred to as the "oasis of America". According to local legends, the water and mud of the area are therapeutic. Both locals and tourists often bathe in the waters or cover themselves with the mud in an attempt to cure ailments such as arthritis, rheumatism, asthma, and bronchitis.

The lake was created by natural seepage from underground aquifers, but the increase in well-drilling started to threaten that supply in the early 2000s. To compensate for the loss, and preserve the oasis as a destination for tourists, local business groups began pumping water into the lake in 2015.

Service has seen better days in this house because the human is sick with a terrible bronchitis. Don't worry, the cats won't starve but she doesn't react as quickly to every little "meow" as she usually does and her endless coughing is quite annoying.

I disable comments for this photo as I'm unable to comment on your photos right now. Apart from the coughing I also have a terrible headache and can't look at the computer screen for long. Hopefully I will feel a bit better in a day or two.

The sun is shining... yea... but I am not getting to enjoy it as I am fighting bronchitis and an upper respiratory infection. Seems with the rain and all that comes with it... mold.. mildew.. I was blessed to have avoided it this long... but saw the ENT doctor and he gave me meds and I will be better real soon. So for now staying in and resting and taking my Rx. My pharmacist who is a very special lady asked if I had had both pneumonia shots and I said I had had one. Then she proceeded to make me aware that about a year ago they came out with another one to be taken also and she recommended that when I am well that I get it given my history with bronchitis bouts. So maybe y'all already knew or maybe not but I just thought I would tell you so you can be aware of it's existence and take advantage of it too! And when I am well I will go back to her and get mine. Isn't it wonderful how God sends people into our lives to help us along the way!!

The SAMSON windmill is an open geared windmill. The SAMSON was a very good windmill but required relatively frequent lubricating because of its bearing design. The Samson windmill was made by the Stover Company was formed in 1881, in Freeport, Illinois, USA, although its principal Daniel C. Stover had been manufacturing and inventing various machinery from the 1860's. Windmills were not added to the company production list until 1883. Daniel Stover together with his brother, had patented a windmill in 1872, but sold the manufacturing rights. Windmills started in the United States in the mid 1800's when a new style of windmill was developed that comprised a small rotor set on top of a skeletal steel structure. At first these were using a few wooden blades, but soon became more technologically advanced, using steel blades that would fold back in very high winds to avoid damage to blades and any connected equipment. These were used primarily in the American West as water pumps to draw up water for cattle or crop irrigation.

Wishing y'all a blessed day and a HAPPY WINDMILL WEDNESDAY... HWW!!!!

For all of my wonderful Flickr Friends who sent kind messages and good wishes while I was off sick. I really appreciate your concern and your friendship - Thank you very much!!

I've had a nasty bout of Bronchitis, and although I am still coughing like a horse and feeling a bit feak and weeble, I am sure that I will be back at top speed very soon. I'm missing you all!!! See you soon!

Zantedeschia aethiopica

Common name: White Arum Lily

Family: Araceae

Nigella sativa is a small black seed that comes from a flowering plant in the Ranunculacea family. Native to southwest Asia and the Mediterranean, it now grows throughout India, the Middle East, and Europe. Nigella sativa has been used for centuries in herbal medicine to treat certain health conditions including asthma, bronchitis, and inflammation. It has also long been used as a spice and food preservative.

While research on Nigella sativa's health effects is limited, findings from in vitro, animal, and a small number of human studies show that it may offer immune-boosting and antioxidant benefits.

On Sunday I took a drive down to the Cornish coast and had a wander around various places. The weather report said it would be cloudy for a few hours then clear up later on.

My first stop was Wheal Coates near St Agnes, and when I arrived it was really overcast with lots of low cloud coming over the cliffs.

Visibility wasn't great and I was a bit disheartened as I knew I wouldn't get a decent shot at this location. So I had a wander around the coastal path for an hour or so, fired off a few shots and then headed to my next location. Coming home and editing this shot the low cloud actually gives it a bit of drama and with the area's history I think it suits the shot to a tee.

Wheal Coates is an old Cornish tin mine, operating between 1802 and 1889, 140 people worked deep underground in cramped and stifling conditions. Most men working here were considered old and worn out at 40, Many suffered with bronchitis, silicosis, TB and rheumatism.

Accidents caused by explosions, falling, rock falls, drowning and entanglement in machinery were a real danger and took many lives.

I don't think I would be cut out to work here, knowing how rough the Cornish coast can be it must have taken a much harder man than me to survive in a job like that.

She was born in Baghdad (31/101950) to a wealthy family (her father was a wealthy industrialist and a prominent politician) and grew up in one of the first Bauhaus-inspired buildings in Baghdad during an era when "modernism" meant glamour and progressive thinking in the Middle East.

She earned a degree in mathematics from the American University of Beirut before moving to London in 1972 to study at the Architectural Association, where she met Rem Koolhaas, Elia Zenghelis and Bernard Tschumi.

After graduating she worked with her former professors, Koolhaas and Zenghelis, at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, becoming a partner in 1977. Through her association with Koolhaas, she met Peter Rice, the engineer who supported and encouraged her early on, at a time when her work seemed difficult.

In 1994, she taught at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, taking over Kenzō Tange's chair.

In 1980, she founded her own studio, based in London.

We don't get snow here, but we've been getting a lot of these in the morning. It's quite beautiful!

We're a few days away from Christmas, I hope you're all doing well. Safe travels to all who are traveling. It sounds like it will be rough to a lot of folks. Please be careful.

I'm supposed to sing at 4 services at my church this weekend, but I just found out I have bronchitis! I have to say home and rest and pray that every thing will be OK. I called the doctor for an appointment but haven't heard from him yet.

Thank you all so much for stopping by. I know you're all extremely busy/

Frst hepatica which I saw in the forest today :)

Anemone hepatica or common hepatica (Hepatica nobilis) is a herbaceous perennial growing from a rhizome in the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae), native to woodland in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It is found in the woods, thickets and meadows, especially in the mountains of continental Europe. In many countries Anemone hepatica is grown as an ornamental plant, where it is appreciated because of effective flowers and early blooming. It is used in rock gardens or in forest-based parks. Medieval herbalists believed it could be used to treat liver diseases, and is still used in alternative medicine today. Other modern applications by herbalists include treatments for pimples, bronchitis and gout.

Pierwsze przylaszczki, które znalazłam dziś w lesie :)

Przylaszczka pospolita (Hepatica nobilis) – gatunek rośliny wieloletniej z rodziny jaskrowatych.

Day 4 of a ten-day course of powerful antibiotic (for bronchitis).

Went because the opportunity presented itself and ... these things don't come around twice.

The difficulty of this series is starting to present itself - there are only a few ways you can frame dilapidated rooms.

We shall see.

Thank you all for the views, comments, and faves. I have been slow to respond and have not uploaded a photo for a long time because I have been ill. I thought I had a cold virus but after almost two week I decided to seek medical attention and found that I have pneumonia as of Friday May 31. Hopefully I will recover soon.

Update: turns out I have bronchitis and am feeling much better.

FLIP IT or 2, 22, 222 is the topic for Saturday, 02/22/20, Group Our Daily Challenge.

I'm still struggling with a strong bronchitis,

Going out and taking pictures is not possible.

I am also far behind when it comes to commenting and favoring your photos.

11 days are enough ... I hope the antibiotic finally works.

My 71st Explore! The first weeks of this year have flown by as an utter waste simply because of a bout of bronchitis I've been fighting. But I'm so blessed to have spent nearly 2 1/2 months at this blessed Long Island home where tonight's sunset was absolutely magical.

First forsythia flower which I've seen in this year. It's a little too early for them, but it's a nice view :)
