Walking along from the Prometheus Cinema towards Lenin Square is the music school.
It was unheard of in 1970's to have a dedicated music school but with a thriving music scene this school was established.
A 35 man (plus guides) trip to the Ukraine exploring Chernobyl, the village, Duga 3, Pripyat and Kiev including Maidan (Independence Square) and observing the peaceful protests underway.
Some new faces, some old, made new friends and generally we were in our elements.
Rhetorical question but did we have a blast? You bet!
Amazing group, top guys. Till the next time!

One of the most misquoted movie lines. Play it again, Sam is never actually said in Casablanca (one of my all time favorite movies!) When Ilsa comes into the bar she does say, "Play it once, Sam, for old times' sake.... play 'As Time Goes By'." Later Rick says, "You played it for her, you can play it for me. ...If she can stand it, I can. Play it."
I stopped by a thrift store the other day looking for an older record player. They didn't have one, but they did have this awesome old piano. I didn't have my camera with me that day so swung back by today to grab a picture. A little worn and tattered, but full of character and I am sure a lot of stories!
Are you paying attention Linda? ;)
This actually has happened. For the Macro Monday 'Nightmare' illustration, I roughened up the end of the shaft, to make it look like the key snapped. Shafted, huh? ;-) If the plastic key handle breaks, you can't open the door without pliers.
As luck would have it, a neighbor has a spare key to our apartment. The locally made Multi-lock brand is sold internationally, and steel pins lock into the metal door frame and floor.

I loved this necklace, well I love Kingdom hearts; I especially love keyblades. It broke about late last year and I was bummed out about it. I don't think I can throw it away, I could try to glue it but I'm sure it'll be easy to snap :(
By the way, this is the 700th upload to my Flickr!

Some jerk broke into my car and left this little souvenir in the ignition. After some adventures (and learning that my car is very tough to steal) with taking the whole steering column apart I finally managed to extract the broken piece with these tools.
I saw this key lying at the side of the path; when I looked closely I saw that most of it had broken off. I wonder what had happened?

My daughter cringed when she saw this inside a replica of (FIlipino hero) Jose Rizal's home in Nayong Pilipino. What a waste of a truly exquisite piano.

A key was made but didn't quite fit in the lock.

I had to chuckle when I went into a classroom today to check out a teacher's computer and found this on the desk.
It's vitally important in a classroom situation to maintain control, but someone has clearly lost it here!

In desktop publishing there are two kinds of space characters: breaking spaces and non-breaking spaces. They look identical, but the difference is that a breaking space - the normal kind - can be interpreted by the software as an appropriate place to break a line of text.
There may be some instances where you don't want a new line to be started between two particular words and so a non-breaking space can be used.
I called up to an IT room at the end of the day to deal with a rare case of intentional damage. This is definitely a breaking space.
...this is all you've left me with.
Did you know this? Of course you didn't, you were already gone and when you leave you can't see what you leave behind. Being alone all I have left in my hands are thoughts and words, and whether you didn't break my heart, you surely broke the key that opens it.
So, one night, right as I turned my key in the door to lock my apt before going out for the night, my key broke off in the lock. I remember thinking, "wow, I hope this key doesn't mess up my nails" as I turned the key, and just like that, it ruined my night.
Except it actually didn't ruin my night, it just took me in a different direction than I had originally planned.

No music can ever come out of this truly exquisite piano now that it's been relegated to a dusty spot inside a replica of Jose Rizal's home in Nayong Pilipino... tsk, tsk.
